About Cynthia
I have been teaching piano for over 25 years, and am a Nationally Certified Teacher of Music (NCTM) through the Music Teachers National Association. I have a Bachelors and Masters Degree from Brigham Young University, Provo. I believe that a well-rounded piano education includes a strong technical foundation, performance opportunities such as recitals and festival participation, keyboard theory and knowledge of the different musical periods and their appropriate styles. If you are passionate about the piano, I’d love to hear you! Currently accepting home school students. In-person lessons are preferred, although I am offering Zoom lessons during Covid.

I love working with students of all ages and stages! It is so wonderful to see the development of strong technique and musical understanding; my goal is for every student to have the ability to create beautiful, nuanced performances, not just read notes on a page!
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Before your interview with me, consider your own personal goals on the piano (or organ). Why are you studying piano? What about it interests you? What kind of music do you prefer to play? Are you willing to study technique, theory, and sight reading? Are you ready to work hard to prepare for festivals and/or yearly piano exams? It is important for teachers to teach to your needs, and tailor lessons to fit you!

Cynthia Wells strengthened my understanding of music theory, and gave me several practicing techniques that I use in my college music classes. She also helped me become a more dynamic and accurate performer.
Our daughter has been taking lessons from Cindy for several years. She is very knowledgeable of theory and technique. Cindy is a joy to work with and cares very much about the success of all of her students.
I have been taking lessons from Cindy for 5 years. She was the third teacher I had and can honestly say she has been the best one. Her knowledge about music is astounding. Her encouragement for her students is amazing. Cindy is so kind and understanding, but she will also push you to set goals that will help you improve. I have learned so much from her and have been able to play songs I never could have imagined. I am so grateful for the opportunity I have to take lessons from her.

Through the school year, I charge a monthly flat fee, regardless of the number of lessons. This makes budgeting much easier for everyone involved! For the summer, I move to weekly rates, as it is a much more flexible season.
