About Jennifer
My long experience includes 11 years as a secondary school science teacher, and after becoming a mother, 13 years as a primary teaching assistant. In addition, I have an been an IGCSE Biology examiner for 6 sessions. My career has often involved teaching and helping students with English as a second language; and special educational needs such as dyslexia and autism. As a private tutor I have taught year 2 and year 6 maths and English; GCSE science and maths and A level Biology. After tutoring my son, he achieved A*s in 3 sciences and Maths GCSEs. An ‘A’ level student of mine with English as a second language has now qualified as a doctor.
Working with children has brought me great satisfaction, and the children enjoy learning with me. When I teach, I present ideas with variety and fun, using visual aids and games, finding out how the children like to learn and giving them responsibly for their learning where appropriate. Through linking the work to their interests and real-life issues, I deepen students understanding of subjects, and broaden their vocabulary, which is very important to achieve good grades, especially in English.
