About Rona

With over 19 years of experience as a private tutor across all grade levels and educational backgrounds, I bring a deep understanding of student needs and academic success. I have spent 12 years teaching Preschool and Kindergarten and have served as a Preschool Director for more than 5 years. Additionally, I’ve had the rewarding experience of teaching students in grades 1 through 9 overseas, which has given me a global perspective on education and curriculum standards.

My diverse teaching background has equipped me with proven tools and techniques to support both children and adults in their educational journey. I specialize in identifying the key skills and knowledge students need to confidently move to the next level.

What drives me most is helping students thrive. There’s nothing more rewarding than seeing the joy on a student’s face after mastering a difficult concept or passing an important assessment. Their success is my greatest reward.

My journey into teaching began with a deep desire to help others succeed and reach their full potential. I’ve always been driven by the belief that no one should have to struggle alone in their learning journey. Supporting students, building their confidence, and guiding them toward academic success is incredibly fulfilling.

To me, the ability to educate and empower others is one of the greatest gifts—and I’m honored to share that gift with each student I work with.

When working with a new student, I begin with a complimentary assessment to evaluate their current skill level and identify specific areas where they may be struggling. This allows me to gain a clear understanding of their strengths, challenges, and academic needs.

I recognize that every student learns differently, and some may have learning disabilities or require additional support. With this in mind, I tailor my approach to suit each individual student’s learning style, ensuring that instruction is personalized, effective, and aligned with their unique goals.

I have experience working with a wide range of students, each with their own unique goals and learning needs. This includes English language learners (ESL students), individuals seeking to improve their overall English skills, and students preparing for entrance exams.

I also have experience supporting students with learning differences such as ADD, ADHD, and dyslexia. I adapt my teaching methods to suit each student’s learning style, ensuring a supportive and effective learning environment for all.

When looking to hire a teacher especially for subjects like English, test preparation, or language development. It’s important to find someone who not only understands the material but also knows how to connect with students on a personal level. Every student learns differently, so choose a teacher who is patient, adaptable, and willing to tailor their approach to your individual needs.

Don’t be afraid to ask questions about their teaching style, experience with students like yourself, and how they plan to help you reach your goals. A good teacher will not only provide instruction but also motivate, encourage, and support you every step of the way.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Before reaching out to a teacher, it’s helpful for students to reflect on a few key questions to better understand their own needs and goals. This can make the conversation more productive and ensure they find the right fit. Some questions to consider include:

• What specific subjects or skills do I need help with?

• What are my short-term and long-term academic goals?

• Do I have any learning challenges or preferences the teacher should know about (e.g., learning style, ADHD, dyslexia)?

• How do I learn best visually, verbally, through practice, or a mix?

• What kind of support am I looking for- homework help, test prep, skill building, or something else?

• How much time can I realistically commit to tutoring each week?

By thinking through these questions, students can enter the conversation with more clarity and confidence and find a teacher who is well-equipped to meet their needs.
