Research and Assessment
Please don't hesitate to ask any questions you may have. I look forward to hearing from you!
I have always been drawn to education. Seeing a student succeed after struggling is very rewarding!
I started tutoring in high school through a peer tutoring program. The program was successful because it allowed tutors to speak directly with teachers regarding students' grades and class performance. We met two to three times a week with students who were struggling to increase their GPA and self-efficacy as a student.
I have seven years of collective tutoring experience. The majority of my experience is with elementary students, but I do have some experience with middle and high school students. I would also be willing to peer tutor students at the university level for subjects in which I have earned an A.

I start with an assessment to determine the student's current abilities. From there I discuss possible courses of action with the parent and student. Communication is a very important factor in education. I tailor lessons to the individual needs and comforts of the student in order for the student to gain a better understanding of the material.
I have worked with a diverse group of students. The majority of my experience is with elementary students who are struggling to grasp new concepts (reading, multiplication, division, etc.) despite interventions by teachers. I provide one-on-one guidance to these students. I have experience with developmentally and physically challenged students, as well as students from vaired ethnic and cultural backgrounds.
I recommend asking for and checking references. Tutors who are good at what they do will have several past students who succeeded with the tutor's help. Don't be afraid to ask questions about the tutor's attitude and methods! These are very important qualities in a tutor.
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Teachers (especially school teachers) are uniquely qualified to assess a student's needs. A teacher can often pinpoint a problem before students and their parents. For this reason, I communicate often with teachers. When discussing a student's needs with a tutor, ask about how a tutor will approach an issue. A tutor's approach could be entirely different than a school teacher's because of a tutor's ability to work one-on-one with a student.
