About Andrea
I have taught thousands of students over the course of six years when I worked full-time as a sewing teacher at a local studio. My main focus is garment-making, as I sew my own clothes and have worked professionally sewing and altering clothing for clients. I do small-batch production runs of clothing for children's apparel companies.
I can teach students who are beginner to intermediate level, whether you are looking to learn how to thread a sewing machine for the first time, or need help making a specific garment. I look forward to hearing from you!
I had a sewing blog that featured articles and tutorials. I gained a following due to my clear approach and fun nature. I was put in touch with the owner of a teaching studio who needed staff, so I began teaching in person and fell in love with it.
I have 10 years of professional sewing experience, including six years teaching sewing to all levels of students. In my years as a teacher I encountered all types of students with different learning styles.

If you are brand new to sewing, I have a progressive curriculum that first teaches you how to properly thread and operate a sewing machine, how to use a pattern and cut fabric, and how to construct a simple project from beginning to end. You will learn the basics of straight stitching, backstitching, sewing corners, finishing edges, all while practicing spatial reasoning, problem solving, and troubleshooting.
If you have experience, I would love to learn more about where you are and what your goals are. I can help you wherever you are on your journey.
Beginners who have never used a sewing machine, to experienced makers who sew a significant portion of their wardrobe already. I have taught pre-teens up to seniors. I have taught people from all walks of life with different careers, skill sets, and learning styles.
