About Karin
Hi there! I am a professional performer as well as teacher. I have my master's in music ed and have also taught in classrooms throughout Michigan. I have been teaching private lessons since 1994. I perform proessionally I modify the lessons to meet the student's needs.
I love to use teaching as a way to pass on knowlege but also as a way to mentor people into a life or part of a life that makes them feel fulfilled, music is so much more than just music. I really enjoy teaching but it goes beyond that into developing lifelong friendships.
I had my first private student at age fourteen and have always had students ever since. I put myself through college and now support my performing career in this way.
I have been taking formal violin lessons since age four. Since then I have also learned piano cello mandolin guitar and voice. I went to Interlochen Arts Academy from 1994-1998 and later was a camp counselor and private viola instructor there. I went to Michigan State, U of M and Wayne State for Graduate School and I have two bachelors' degrees, a graduate degree and teaching certificate. I now perform full-time and teach part-time and offer artist mentorship.

First we discuss the students musical goals and whether or not an online or in-person lesson would be most appropriate. Then we schedule the lesson. I offer a trial lesson so the student can see if my style of teaching works for them. After that we meet weekly at the designated time, starting at a half hour for lessons. Online lessons are discounted.
I teach all ages and all abilities and I love to work with special needs, autism spectrum, cognitive or physical disability students to help them learn to adapt music to their life.

Details
I usually charge $30 per half-hour lesson, payable at the beginning of each month for the month (to discourage cancellations on both parties), if online lessons are appropriate and available those are $25 per lesson.
