About Wayne
I am semi-retired after over 45 of teaching. I have taught and tutored at all levels of Spanish at the middle school, high school and college levels, and am a specialist in grammar, writing and reading. I hold B.A., M.A. and Ph.D. degrees in Spanish, am Professor Emeritus of Spanish from the University of Saint Joseph, and was given the university's Award for Teaching Excellence. I have taught and tutored in on-ground, hybrid and online settings. I love to incorporate cultural aspects into my teaching, and have presented at prestigious conferences in the U.S., Mexico, Peru and Chile ways of incorporating culture and language learning. One comment that I frequently found in my student evaluations: "I've learned more Spanish in one semester of Dr. Steely's class than in four years of high school!"
