PERSONAL NOTE: when taught by a "Certified Instructor" there is less confusion between Certified Instructors, better productivity and less injuries because the Certified Schools (USPTR, USPTA & USNTA only three in the whole world) teach the better strokes!
Some students did become playing pros, others teaching pros, (that's how they got through college, teaching tennis) and others started working for me, teaching tennis.
My advanced game has helped me to teach these athletes a better game, but for the first timers, it is best to think about The Journey (The Journey of Learning), not the outcome. And this "Journey," is best be taken with a Top Professional like myself!

This way of teaching tennis has been very productive for me since 1974 of teaching tennis. And I have develop great "happy" tennis players, because of it.
RP COMMENT: if you don't want to be taught this way partly or fully, let me know. It's your lesson, not mine!
SPECIAL NOTE:
Sign up for a package of tennis lessons with me within the "Next 3 Days" you'll receive a FREE RACKET STRINGING by me! I have strung for the top pro tennis players like Billie Jean King, Virginia Wade, Martina Navratilova and John McEnroe, to name a few. I will string your racket "just right" for you! PERSONAL OPINION ABOUT MYSELF:
I see myself as a grassroot instructor. For some instructors, they are given great players but for me, I believe I can create the great player from the beginning and "I have"!
TENNIS PEDAGOGICS: First and foremost, the teaching of how it's done is crucial to learning the game of tennis. "I don't believe you can build a great mansion (your game) with an inferior hammer and tools (your strokes)!" After that comes the teaching of the mental game and tennis stratagem.
[MYTHS AND FACTS] OF LEARNING THE GAME OF TENNIS:
MYTH: Tennis is so easy, anybody can do it.
"This is a myth, because tennis is five or six sports into to one, very difficult to learn. But don't get me wrong, it still can be accomplished by a very young person or by anybody with the right PTR certified instructor, like myself!"
FACT: Tennis can go well beyond it just being a game.
"Yes most certainly, tennis will keep you in shape for the rest of your life and can be played in old age. And most importantly, with the right instructor, you will learn to be mentally tougher; on and off the court. It could be a life-changing experience!"
MYTH: Every instructor will teach you the same strokes and coach you the same way.
"No, not every instructor teaches the same way. It's mainly because the 'real' correct strokes are difficult to teach. Other instructors will cop out, and teach an easier, an inferior stroke, not realizing the stroke will be ingrained in their student's muscle memory and be hard to change later. For example: for the service motion, your instructor teaches you to use a forehand grip and to pull the racket straight back and straightforward with a low toss of the ball hitting the ball with all arm over the head. This is not the correct way of serving and will probably create rotator cuff, wrist and arm injuries. Check with a certified PTR instructor like myself or watch usta.com videos in slow motion to find the 'real' service motion".
FACT: Playing tennis "any which way" (improper strokes) will eventually create injuries and most importantly inhibit your performance (your happiness) in the game of tennis.
"Yes, I've seen grown adults barely hitting the ball over the net because of their improper strokes, handcuffing them from their real potential. Also, yes, to the injuries, especially these days, the false belief that they need to hit the ball with more topspin (more wrist) creating wrist and arm problems. There is a better, more superior way of hitting the ball".
MYTH: The (formerly the number one player) Roger Federers' of this world were born mentally tough.
"Yes this is a myth, no one was ever born mentally tough, it had to have been taught to them. The unfortunate reality is very seldom you will have an instructor teaching mental toughness but it's quite obvious that everyone needs it! I am one of the few that teaches mental toughness, of course with your permission. And even without your permission it is there, because, I believe it needs to be there, if you want a good game!"
FACT: It is very important to be taught the game of tennis correctly.
"Yes this is a very good fact because of the 'Injury Factor'. And to go further, the main reason, in my opinion, why American Tennis is going downhill because improper, inferior instructions are being taught. There are too many 'social' instructors that don't teach anything at all. Too many 'drill' instructors giving you a good drill but nothing is said about the strokes".
MYTH: My instructor shows me (the path) the swing of my racket in making contact with the ball. This is the main reason why I'm getting better at tennis.
"This is a myth, think about it... the contact with the ball, is your grip(s) (how you are holding the the racket) has a lot to do with your success in making contact with the ball successfully. In other words, the contours of your wrist can only move a certain way enabling you to hit the ball a certain way. And what could happen is the ball could be hit with under-spin because of the improper grip(s). If there is no mentioning of the grip(s), (the way you're holding it). I would just not walk away but 'run away', (make sure to get your money back) from an instructor that doesn't talk about the grip(s) and changing the grip(s)".
FACT: A person needs balance between work and play, with work mandatory and with play (your health), achieving true happiness does happen.
"Yes you probably can get away with it, work all day long and everyday and say that you're happy, but look at it a different way... if your body is not healthy from healthy activities like Tennis. You won't be able to add ten more years to your life to spend all that money you're making".
MYTH: Students of the game are able to rally (hit the ball back and forth) with their new learned strokes as quickly as learning team sports (swimming, basketball, soccer and so on).
"This is a myth, especially because the instructors never talks about the stages of getting into the automatic stage. This is muscle memory and you need to do the stages 'quite precisely' to move on to the automatic stage of muscle memory. This is when you're doing the stroke over and over again correctly and getting it over the net consistently. For example: I had a phone call from a mother the other day telling me her son knows how to play and can rally the ball because he's been playing for the last three years with other instructors that's been feeding balls from the top of the net. I tested him and he couldn't rally two balls in a row and he had no real form. This is a good example of a person not going through the proper steps of muscle memory".
FACT: I, Robert Perez, tennis instructor, is not out to make Tennis Pros out of his student(s) unless the student(s) wants me to.
"By reading this you might get the impression that I'm out to make you a Pro, not to say that I haven't. The bottom line is this: It's whatever you want to do with the game, that's your business. I'm only here to teach the best way I know how and finding more and better ways of teaching this game. I've heard it a thousand of times in the previous years: 'I don't really want to learn this way. I'm only here to have fun. I'm not trying to become a Pro!' And my reply: This is the way it's done, the strokes are difficult to learn but can be learned'. This illusion in some people that the game of tennis is easily learned, has been taken advantage of in some Pros in teaching there students very little, keeping up with this illusion, with inferior strokes. Proving one thing: 'You can do this any which way you can and still get it over the net!' but it's not the correct way for maximum performance. This fact eventually catches up to the students and along the way some drop out and the others eventually obtains the knowledge of the correct tennis strokes".

I hope this has been valuable and most useful in picking me as your instructor. I hope to see you soon!

Meeting new people and chasing every ball down :). And I get some exercise at the same time, I teach because I rally with the new students, even if they started today. Chasing every ball down is what I like doing. I don't feed the balls from the top of the net like some other instructors. I like to make the situation real and teach them the correct strokes.
I was 11 years old, (I have been playing since I was 4) this 35 year old man (advanced player) ask me to hit the ball with him at Memorial Tennis Center (where my dad was the pro for 16 years) I beat him easily. And one thing led to another, to my surprise, he asked me to teach him but I really got started at 18 teaching 10 and under kids about 4 to 6 of them.
College courses, certifications (the schools that certify you and "teach you how to teach" and the (plus) of working with different personalities, different situation. Situations meaning: Tourette syndrome students, wheelchair students and the other medical or mental disabilities and most importantly the different personalities have ran into. I call that "education", different personalities.

The typical progress with working with new students would depend on the progress they already have, if any. Beginners, Intermediates or Advanced Player would typically start with the form, if it needs to be changed or not and then the tennis stratagem and then the mental game. "I don't believe you can build a great mansion (your game) with an inferior hammer and tools (your strokes)!"
Wheelchair students
Tourette Syndrome students
Down syndrome students
One-armed students
Emotionally disturbed students for example: bad-tempered students, ADHD students, hypertension student, to name a few
And the normal student
Look at the coaches background (how many years teaching?) (who has he been teaching?) (is he a compassionate tennis coach?) (is he a certified coach?).
Also look for the obvious (is he fluent in English?) and (can he speak a different language, your language?).
Look at what he teaches maybe go to his classes look for his temperament (is he patient?) (is he teaching you anything at all or does he just want to play?) and if he does teach you (is he concerned about your grips?).
I consider the grips the most important part of teaching the correct form!
Just because he's a great player! Doesn't mean he can teach.
Fond of all of them, but this particular student named Max (12 year old boy), which I enjoyed teaching immensely and he really improved a lot but he was dying of terminal cancer. He wasn't able to enjoy or see his 13th birthday.
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Questions? Everything and anything. If he's a knowledgeable coach he should know everything about the game and everything associated with the game. Especially the obvious, the rules and regulations and "The Code of Tennis".
It baffles me, so many coaches don't know The Code of Tennis. This is exactly what your playing under when you're playing a friendly match, adult and junior tournaments and adult and junior leagues.
The Code is the unwritten rules of tennis. Find it at usta.com under The Friend of Court.

Perfect! Coach Robert was amazing. Definitely broke through a plateau I was stuck in for a while and I couldn’t be more grateful. From the very first lesson he was able to point out some of my weaknesses and quickly made solutions. I’ve improved immensely and will for sure be coming back for more lessons.
Perfect! Great communication and prompt for lessons. Learning a lot.
Perfect! User friendly and super fast to match students with instructors
Perfect! Robert is excellent with working through the stroke mechanics to provide the foundation for improvement. He did a great job showing my daughters what was needed for an effective serve. He broke it down to manageable pieces and then brought it all together. Just what was needed for my 10 year olds.
Perfect! It was very detailed
Perfect! Robert focus on skills, he is patient with kids. Also he breaks down the techniques, makes suggestions for improving student's game

Five stars for this is my review
In rhyme, this is how I view
Because I'm only 15 many a sport I have played
Rejected all, but tennis I have stayed
And many a coach's advice I've done with
But only a few coach's advice agreed with
I've noticed tennis coaches agree to disagree
I remain neutral until I see some reliability
With this tennis coach, I'm at odd
For this old coach many pathways he has trod
Win or lose many points and strategies I have to play
Calmed violent tennis poetry written in warm water ponds not to stay
I'm told to practice hard to play hard
What babel is this, this is to disregard
I say "To look to win look at the outcome"
I'm told you're not going to overcome
To think of the journey instead of the outcome
A hard concept to overcome
To engulf oneself at the moment in the journey is to be
For whom is telling me this, Coach RP

Coach (RP) - Robert Perez
Thank youI had a very thorough first lesson with Robert where he both showed me the basic techniques and exercises. I am looking forward to continue the training with him and follow my progress.
Robert was able to quickly identify errors in mechanics of several strokes and started training for the changes right then. He is also very knowledgeable on all faucets of the game and is patient with with my girls
My experience with Ace Tennis Lessons is A+++. Robert is a great coach with excellent stroke technique combined with patience and professionalism. Я настоятельно рекомендую Роберта как тренера по теннису для всех возрастов.
I don't know what this guy, Mihir Arya is talking about. If your read on, he's praising coach Perez with another review: "Teaches good technique. Very good with kids."
By the way, I was on an adjacent court next to coach Perez and Mihir A. and his son at these community tennis courts. Where Mihir A. was yelling at his son, threatening him, if he doesn't straighten up, he'll send him to military school. Coach Perez was picking up the balls.
Now with Coach Robert Perez and my son, he has send him up the ranks from winning Challenger tournaments to Championship tournaments. Now working on Super Championship tournaments. He did it mostly by strengthening his Mental Tennis Game. I am very pleased with the results of Coach Robert Perez.Horrible person, very short tempered. He was very rude to my son. This was the main reason my son hates tennis now. Also got into fights with people on the tennis courts next to us couple of times..... bug trouble maker. This was in my community tennis courts. I would never recommend him as a teacher for anything.
I certainly got what I paid for... Robert was very attentive and quick to diagnose my tennis needs. He was punctual and communicated well through texting.
Robert is good coach. He is very particular about theory of tennis and details. He cares about each student, you can feel it during the tennis session. He also provides some videos to get better idea of certain things and see it in slow mode.
He can teach you from the beginning or can help you to improve certain skills, like back hand or serve.
I like to work with him.Robert is an awesome Tennis coach. He has tons of patience to train kids.
I love learning from Coach Robert! He is an excellent, experienced coach who teaches the fundamentals of being a great tennis player.
Robert is the most technically sound coach I have ever experienced. He will improve your game if you are willing to make changes.
Teaches good technique. Very good with kids.
I am the biggest procrastinator. I try to sign up my kid for number of sports and events but I don't ever get it done, I'm always halfway there. Golf, swimming, violin lessons and a number of others. I don't know what it is, maybe being overly protective or very picky. The idiosyncrasies about these instructors I don't like: "I don't like the way the instructor smiles", "his/her introduction is way too wordy" and the list goes on. I don't know what it is about my procrastinating, but for some strange reason I like this tennis instructor, Robert Perez. And "yes" there were a lot of flaws in his introduction but once I got to know the instructor bit by bit, I like what he had to say showing off his inner core, his essence. This tennis instructor's essence is honest, compassionate, and even noble. I think you enjoy his humor and his true love for the sport and will take you far to where you want to be in the sport! I would highly recommend him to all ages, male or female!
It's simple but not so much for me. I was looking for the best instructor I could get, not just any coach, so I tried out a few but I didn't feel like I was going anywhere. I wasn't satisfied because I felt like several techniques were left out during the teaching process. Now, don't get me wrong, I don't want to become a pro, I'm just in it for the fun and I just want to see if I like it or not and I do believe a good foundation of the right technique to start with. So I started my investigation by watching tennis matches on television through my DVR in "slow motion". I practically playback every match of famous tennis players in "slow motion" and saw what I needed to see. I was totally amazed, it was nothing like these - other instructors were teaching me. You're able to see every technique as it is being used and it has helped me so much to become better. My instructor, Robert Perez, taught me exactly what I was watching "AS SEEN ON TV" and he understood my approach towards the game. He went as far as to teach mental toughness strength, flexible strength workout programs, strategic strategies for singles and doubles, how to play all sorts of tennis games and pointed out personality and technique flaws and how to combat them. He was very patient and sympathetic throughout my classes and was super friendly as well. I would highly recommend this instructor because he has gone above and beyond to make sure I am learning the proper way to execute the correct techniques and much, much more! Five stars!!!!!
Robert is a great coach.
My two daughters have been taking lessons with him for about six months now. This is a very technical sport that requires, even at an early age a very technical approach. Robert is a Tennis professional that ensures consistency and makes sure they learn appropriate technique. I also see from his lessons a holistic approach into Tennis. He teaches not only the movements but also the game. In each lesson he is integrating the different aspects of the game. I think the apprentice would be getting a complete sense of the game. For example they have been learning about the rules, the strategies, and the mindset of the game at their level. Another side is that he works on the behavioral aspect of the kids. Eventhough he might seem strict, interacting positively and engaging with him in constructive way, the discipline and responsibility learning of the kids is improved and help overall mental maturation of the children as well.
I myself decided to take lessons as well at the same time and am very please with the results. Even though I don't have a lot of time to practice I have made a lot of progress with his instruction.Hi my name is Vaarahi, I am 6 years old. I have played tennis before these lessons. I like taking tennis lessons a whole lot from coach Robert. Coach Robert has taught me great tennis game. Coach Robert is an awesome tennis coach! I like playing tennis a lot more, NOW! I would like to be number 1 in my family in tennis. I would recommend coach Robert to anybody!!!!
Detailed skills and professional technique
I am a tennis newbie. Did not play tennis before. Coach Robert showed me how to play tennis correctly.
Coach Robert has really helped me overcome frustration in the game of tennis...really grateful to have him be my coach :))
My son has taken lessons with Robert for some months and we really like how Robert teaches. From the beginning he has both emphasized a good technique and taught how to mentally approach the game. We actually became so convinced that both my husband and I also started to play. And it was then that we learned that Robert really meets everybody´s strengths and weaknesses with individually tailored methods. He absolutely tries to get the best out of everybody!
He is a good coach and tries to work with you on your game. He emphasizes the correct form for your shots which creates a good foundation for your game.
Coach Robert has been coaching my 2 children for about 2 months. They are 9 and 11. The children enjoy learning from him. He is patient and always passionate about the game and always gives his best. When they don't understand he will explain it again on a different way and if it is too hard for them he will make it easier till they can get that before moving on. He also breaks down the strokes so that it can be learned and is totally engaged throughout the lesson. And His emphasis on the enjoyment of the game first and developing a positive mindset towards the game is appreciated. There are a few minor scheduling issues about the timing and venue which were inconvenient but overall he is flexible so that helps. Overall he provides excellent value and is a good coach
