About Yannick
Hi! My name is Yannick, I am from the Netherlands and have a PhD degree in microbiology from the Technical University of Denmark. I also have a passion for mathematics and enjoy helping others and share my knowledge! I have many years of experience with tutoring secondary school students in the Netherlands in the subjects mathematics, physics and chemistry. During my five years I worked in the academic world as PhD and Postdoc researcher in microbiology I gained a lot of experience with teaching students and applying basic science and mathematics on a daily basis in my experiments.
In my opinion, the current education system is not always 100% the correct solution for each individual. Not each student learns optimally in the same way, and this is why I believe in the personal classes that I offer. Besides focusing on teaching you the new concepts, I also focus on increasing your confidence in solving exercises and problems, as this is the key to ace your exams!
I offer my lessons both online as well as physical in the Netherlands. In order to prepare myself optimally for the lessons, I'd like to receive an overview of the material and problems at least one day in advance.

In my mathematics lessons I will always first start with identifying the areas that you are struggling with so that we can work together to improve your understanding and skills. I like to break up the complex-looking concepts and problems in smaller and simpler pieces and start with the knowledge that you already possess. Often you will see that you get a lot further than initially thought.
The lessons will take place online via Skype or Zoom and can be planned flexibly in this way.

Mijn zoon heeft 2 lessen gehad, hij was erg tevreden over, hij heeft daardoor hoge cijfers kunnen halen. En net genoeg punten kunnen halen. De uitleg was duidelijk en rustig, Yannick Vraagt van te voren les materiaal om zich in te lezen. En hij vind het belangrijk dat het echt begrepen is ,ook al moet de uitleg opnieuw.
Hij is zeker aan te bevelen! Mijn zoon zal in ieder geval nog vaker gebruik maken van zijn diensten.He tutored my son and he knows what he explains subjects with confident and teaching shortcuts to students.
Tijdens het volgen van mijn premaster heb ik de mogelijkheid gehad om vragen te stellen aan Yannick over een vakgebied waar ik zelf compleet nieuw in was: de statistiek. Yannick luisterde goed naar mijn vragen en sloot hier perfect bij aan. Hij overspoelde me niet met informatie en kon mij de werkingsprincipes in Jip en Janneke taal uitleggen. Mijn vak heb ik uiteindelijk afgesloten met een 8.2. Ik zou iedereen Yannick als bijlesdocent aanraden!
Yannick is een open, vriendelijk persoon die veel tijd en moeite steekt in het personaliseren van zijn lessen. Naast de stof, is ook de persoon die tegenover hem zit erg belangrijk voor hem. Het vertrouwen dat hij me heeft gegeven heeft ontzettend geholpen!
Het is bijna 10 jaar geleden dat ik bijles van hem heb gehad. Ik herinner me weinig over Yannick maar ik herinner me wel dat ik zeker mijn vwo wiskunde examen niet gehaald had zonder hem. Ik wens hem heel veel succes met zijn nieuwe bijles project.
