I love helping people feel stronger, maintain health and flexibility, and use yoga to come to that place of listening meditation in God's presence.
I have done yoga since 2002. I began a mentoring class with my teacher in 2011 to deepen my own understanding and realized I wanted to teach.

I prefer to do a private lesson before students begin classes, but an interview often suffices to help me understand the student's needs.
I have worked with students anywhere from age 25 to 80. I teach a private chair class with mentally and physically handicapped students. I especially enjoy working with students who want to age gracefully and with agility.
Be open with your needs, so that your teacher is fully aware of any modifications that might need to be made in the poses to help you. The goal is not to force your body into the full expression of a pose, but to find your fullest expression and move forward gently and with care for your body.
I love the advanced teacher training modules which can also be yoga retreats for those not ready for teacher training. It's held at the Benedictine Sisters Retreat Center in Cullman, Alabama. We begin the week by walking the labyrinth and focusing our minds and hearts on the presence of God and hearing his voice this week. The retreats happen three times each year, March, August, and December. Such a wonderful week!
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Be honest about what you want. Realize that results take time. I recommend you commit yourself to three months of yoga before you decide to move on. Yoga is not a quick fix. You will feel better, more open, more peaceful, but lasting changes in your body take some time.

I had practiced yoga a few years on and off before I started going to Doraine. It was through her excellent teaching and genuine love that I led me to love yoga even more. She is for sure a treasure!
Having grace for myself has never been my strong suit. I see it most in anything fitness oriented. Particularly yoga when I'm supposed to be still and quiet with gentle movements (far from my reality). I have learned, through lots of practice and support from Doraine to love my body where it is. Instead of cursing it and telling it to get in shape. I push it and rejoice when it surpasses my expectations. Wherever you are on your journey, take a moment to love who you are. You are capable of doing so much more than you realize, but not through hating the journey.
