Summary of Qualifications and Teaching Experience : I am Sumedha, originally from India and have been here in the Pacific Northwest for the last 15+ years. Yoga has always been a part of my life and has helped me grow stronger, more flexible and fearless, both on and off the mat. Yoga inspires me to live each moment more mindfully. I am currently teaching in 8LimbsYoga and I used to teach at 425 Fitness Redmond and Issaquah and in GetZenHotYoga in Redmond. I teach Restorative, and Hatha style classes. I also enjoy teaching Pranayama and Yin style yoga. My goal is to help students find freedom, self-expression, confidence, and self-love in their yoga practice. I have completed the following certifications over the last few years and have been teaching Power Yoga for more than 8 years in India.
1. 200 hr Traditional Hatha from Yoga Chakra in Rishikesh
2. 300 hr Traditional Hatha from Yoga Chakra in Rishikesh
3. 300 hr Power Vinyasa from Akshar Power Yoga in Bangalore
4. Masters in Yoga Sciences and Consciousness from Svyasa in Bangalore
5. 200 hr Immersion Iyengar Training from "The center of Yoga Seattle" in Seattle
6. 50 hours Yin Yoga from Aayana yoga in Rishikesh
7. Teacher Assisting Program, Shakti Vinyasa Studio, Seattle
In my classes, I love to combine creative sequencing, a spirit of playfulness and a dose of inspiration to help you deepen your practice. I seek to help others thrive in live by nurturing the body, mind and soul with yoga, and my hope is that you step off the mat feeling refreshed, nourished and balanced.” I will always be a student of the practice and am deeply grateful for the loving wisdom my teachers have shared with me. As I said, I am a big fan of the topic of Pranayama. When we work on freeing the breath through pranayama (breathing exercises) we are also working on letting the life energy flow through the body. It has the effect of energizing, relaxing and healing the body, letting everything fall into place. Literally it is an increase and balance of life energy in your system.
