Resume writing Interview prep Strategic job search Tonya Rogers Braden is a Workforce Development Specialist and Technical Trainer with over a decade of experience in post-secondary education. She specializes in guiding aspiring professionals toward fulfilling careers in the IT field by providing training and certifications that align with the needs of prominent Memphis businesses and industry partners. Guided by her mission, "Connecting People to Their Passion," Tonya’s professional journey began at FedEx, where she held various roles, including positions in the Memphis Hub, FedEx Wellness Center, and Computer Support Services. She earned her Bachelor of Business Administration in Information Systems from the University of Memphis, where she later returned to complete a Master’s degree in Instruction and Curriculum Leadership with a concentration in Instructional Design Technology. Her career evolved as she transitioned into teaching and program management. At the Tennessee College of Applied Technology (TCAT) - Memphis, she instructed courses in Microsoft desktop applications and career development as part of the Business Systems Technology program. Tonya later served as Program Coordinator and Instructor for the Health Information Technology program, where she oversaw curriculum development, established partnerships for student internships, and prepared students for nationally recognized Health IT certifications. As Counselor and H1B Grant Manager for the Computer Information Technology program, she supported students through enrollment, grant applications, and career services. Additionally, as the school’s Retention Team Lead, she developed and maintained a comprehensive directory of community resources to assist students with urgent needs such as housing, food, and healthcare. Most recently, Tonya served as Academy Operations Manager for Tech901, a Memphis-based nonprofit that provides IT training to individuals seeking career opportunities in the technology sector. In this role, she leveraged her expertise to connect individuals to meaningful careers in IT while contributing to workforce development in the Memphis area. Beyond her professional work, Tonya is dedicated to community involvement. She serves as a mentor with tnAchieves, supporting high school seniors as they transition to college and navigate their first year of higher education. Tonya is also the creator and producer of Serious Applicants Only, a "pod class" designed for individuals committed to achieving meaningful career growth. This unique platform offers actionable insights for career development and is available on iTunes, Spotify, and other major podcast platforms. As a proud native Memphian and advocate for lifelong learning, Tonya embodies a commitment to empowering individuals and fostering community growth through education and career advancement.
