About Harrison

Hello! I'm Harrison, a full-time mathematics tutor with over 15 years of experience teaching high school students across Australia and internationally.

I have undertaken university studies in Software Engineering, Electrical and Computer Systems Engineering, and Information Technology. Combined with my 99.45 ATAR, this academic background reflects a strong foundation in mathematics and a deep understanding of its practical applications.

Throughout my tutoring career, I've helped hundreds of students develop their mathematical understanding, improve their results, and build confidence. I cover everything from Algebra and Calculus to Probability, Geometry, Vectors and Statistics, with a particular passion for Specialist Mathematics, given its depth and strong connection to university-level mathematics.

Maths is both my passion and my dream job. As a full-time tutor, my priority is the success of my students. I don't believe in recycled explanations or a one-size-fits-all approach. Instead, I take the time to understand how each student learns best, adapting my teaching style and pace to suit their individual needs.

I'm proud of the mathematical understanding I've developed over the years, but I certainly didn't get here alone. Having benefited from the guidance of excellent tutors myself, I've come to appreciate the value of consistent effort, perseverance and the right support. I'd love the opportunity to offer you that same guidance, helping you to navigate the challenges of mathematics, build confidence and achieve success beyond your expectations.

Thank you for reading, and I look forward to seeing you in class.

Every student learns differently, so I tailor each lesson to their individual strengths, weaknesses and learning style. My approach is flexible and continually evolving to ensure students get the most out of every session.

I encourage questions, active participation and open feedback to create a comfortable and engaging learning environment. I'm also happy to arrange additional lessons during busy SAC and exam periods when students need the extra support.

My lessons typically involve identifying knowledge gaps by reviewing current coursework, developing problem-solving skills by working through problems together and uncovering underlying patterns, simplifying complex ideas by explaining them from different perspectives, and using diagrams and other visual tools to make abstract concepts more accessible.

My goal is not simply to help students arrive at the correct answer, but to develop a deeper understanding of the mathematics behind it.

I believe that support shouldn't stop when a lesson ends. If we encounter a particularly challenging problem that we can't fully resolve during a session, I'll provide a clear written or video explanation before our next lesson. I aim to work through problems as thoroughly as possible, even if that means occasionally running slightly overtime.

I also understand how frustrating it can be to get stuck on a problem and have to wait an entire week for help. That's why I encourage students to reach out between lessons whenever they need assistance. I typically respond within a day or two, providing ongoing support that goes beyond what many traditional tutoring arrangements offer.

My flexibility, patience, attention to detail and ability to build genuine connections with students are what set me apart as a tutor.
