Fine Arts Graduate, Professional illustrator offering drawing, painting and illustration classes. From basic portraits to high quality images.

I joined because I wanted to get better at sketching people in cafes and on the street. We did a lot of quick poses and simplifying the figure. I was trying to draw way too much before. Now I can get the basic pose down in a couple of minutes, which is exactly what I wanted.

I’ve been trying to make my own comic for ages and kept getting stuck on the characters. Tadeo helped me simplify them into shapes first, then we looked at poses, expressions and how to keep the character recognisable from different angles. I also got some really good advice about not over-rendering every panel. My pages are way faster to draw now

I could draw a face but never really make it look like the person was feeling anything. Tadeo showed me how much the eyebrows, mouth and little changes in the eyes affect the whole expression. We did loads of quick expressions and it was actually really fun. I think my characters finally look like they have personalities now

The quick sketching exercises were my favourite. We had something like 30 seconds, then 1 minute, then 5 minutes. At first my drawings looked absolutely terrible but after a while I stopped worrying about details and started seeing the pose. I’m now doing little sketches on the train

Instead of starting a new drawing, I brought one of my old paintings to the lesson. We went through it almost like an art diagnosis: composition, values, anatomy, edges and colour. Tadeo had me make several alternative versions before touching the original. Seeing the same painting improve through small structural changes was incredibly instructive. I think this was the first time I understood how an artist can objectively analyze their own work.

I had always struggled with portraits because I would start with the eyes and then spend hours trying to make everything else fit around them. Tadeo completely changed my approach. We worked on the skull, proportions, planes of the face and measuring relationships between features before adding detail. I now begin portraits with much more confidence, and my drawings actually resemble the people I’m trying to draw

I had never touched oil paint before and was honestly intimidated by it. Tadeo made the process feel much less mysterious. We worked through mixing colours, blocking in large shapes, controlling edges and gradually building the painting instead of trying to finish everything at once. By the end of the lesson I had something I actually wanted to keep.

My daughter is 14 and has been drawing constantly for years, but she had reached the point where she didn’t know how to improve anymore. The difference after a few lessons has been remarkable. She now talks about perspective, construction, values and composition instead of simply saying that a drawing ‘looks wrong.’ She also really enjoys the lessons themselves. Tadeo is encouraging without treating her like a little child, which I think is particularly important.”
