About Isobel

I'm an enthusiastic and friendly tutor, with experience tutoring History at GCSE and Oxford prep level, Maths at KS3 and GCSE level, and general essay-writing skills at all levels. My students leave our lessons notably more confident in their understanding of their subjects, and ready to succeed in their exams!

I love learning, and I enjoy nothing more than sharing this enthusiasm with my students! I studied at the University of Oxford, obtaining a first class History BA, and a Master's in Medieval History. I have taken my Graduate Diploma in Law and will be studying for the solicitor’s qualification (the Legal Practice Course) from September 2024.

My qualifications have made me highly skilled at quickly adapting to and understanding new content. I can grasp a solid understanding of your curriculum, and adapt to your learning needs to help you achieve the best results.

I am particularly interested in Medieval History, but I have 8+ years experience of Modern and Early-Modern History, particularly in both World Wars and the Cold War, and 5+ years experience of English Literature. I am also a skilled proof-reader and essay marker, able to help you with general writing skills if needed.

About the lesson

I’m offering tutoring sessions for History at all levels, including Oxbridge entrance exam/interview prep and undergraduate content. I am also offering generic university entrance prep, including assistance with personal statements.

My favourite part of tutoring is getting to know each individual student and understanding how they learn best. From the start of our first lesson, I work with students to establish clear goals and the steps we’re going to take to achieve them!

I will come to our lessons prepared to work through the content you need to know to succeed, with tailored materials to address your areas of difficulty and concern. I particularly enjoy discussing unseen sources/written extracts with students, to best develop your analytical skills. My tutoring fee includes marking your written work between our sessions, so that we can spend our time learning in the most effective way!

My typical tutoring sessions last between 40 minutes and one hour, but I’m happy to adapt to suit the needs of each student.

I can travel to you if you're anywhere within London, and if not I offer online classes.

Please get in touch if you have any questions or would like any further information!

I’ve worked with Isobel in both an academic and a professional context for many years and can highly recommend her as a tutor.
She is enthusiastic about her subject, and is able to bring topics to life. More, she is a meticulous tutor who tailors lessons to meet specific student needs.
Perhaps most importantly, Isobel is personable, kind and understanding and will guide both school and prospective university students through what can be a very difficult process.
I can highly recommend her as a tutor.
