About Aya
Konnichiwa, my name is Aya!
I’m a Japanese language tutor who truly enjoys supporting and encouraging people on their Japanese language journey.
If you truly want to speak Japanese with confidence, I offer practical, supportive lessons focused on real-life communication.
I lived in Canada for six years, and as an adult English learner myself, I understand how challenging it can be to learn a new language and speak when you’re not confident yet. In my lessons, you can ask questions, make mistakes, and express yourself without worrying about being perfect. I’ll support you at your own pace and help you build confidence.
For intermediate learners and above, I also offer a 『News & Culture Discussion』course to practice natural conversation while exploring Japanese news, culture, and everyday topics.
I love traveling, nature, baking, and connecting with people from different cultures. I’ve also backpacked through many countries!
If you’re nervous about speaking Japanese, don’t worry. You don’t have to be perfect from the beginning. Let’s work together toward those moments when you can think, “I can actually communicate in Japanese!”

【Beginners】

In my lessons, we choose one main textbook together based on your learning goals. I use two well-known beginner textbooks, 《GENKI》 and 《IRODORI (free)》, each with a different focus. Along with the textbook, I use my own materials, visuals, repetition, and real-life examples to help you learn naturally and with confidence.
【News & Culture Discussion (Intermediate+)】
・Short articles on current events, culture, food, travel
・Vocabulary expansion and expressing opinions
・Flexible: conversation, journaling, or casual discussion
【Travel Japanese】
・Practical phrases for hotels, restaurants, transportation, shopping
・Cultural tips and polite expressions
・Real-life practice scenarios
Ideally, 2-3 times a week, starting 3 months out, but last-minute prep is also welcome. All Levels welcome:) Let's get you ready for your best trip ever!
