About Lucy
With 5 enriching 13 years of teaching French, I have worked with school and college students to help them speak, write, and understand the language with clarity and confidence. My teaching style blends structure with creativity, making lessons both academically sound and enjoyable. I use immersive techniques like storytelling, cultural activities, French songs, TV clips, and role-play exercises to make learning feel natural and exciting. My method emphasises strong grammar foundations while prioritising communication skills, ensuring students can use French meaningfully in real-world situations. I adapt my lessons to each learner’s pace and strengths, offering flexibility, encouragement, and constructive feedback. I believe in encouraging students through positive reinforcement, open communication, and clear progress tracking. My classes often include short interactive challenges, pronunciation practice, listening drills, and vocabulary games to keep learning dynamic. Many of my students have improved school performance, excelled in examinations, and even developed a passion for French culture. My goal is to make every learner feel capable, confident, and inspired through every session.

My teaching philosophy in French emphasises Accountability, Integrity, Flexibility, Communication, and Positivity to help learners achieve mastery confidently and efficiently. Accountability is reinforced through goal-oriented lesson plans, regular practice, and consistent monitoring, ensuring students remain committed to their learning journey. I encourage reflection and self-assessment so learners understand their progress and actively engage in improvement. Integrity governs my instruction, ensuring transparency in lesson objectives, clear explanations, and constructive feedback. Students always know what to expect and how to develop their skills effectively. Flexibility allows me to adapt to individual learning styles, accommodating both visual and auditory learners, as well as those who excel through conversation or written exercises. Communication forms the backbone of my teaching methodology. I prioritise interactive speaking, listening comprehension, role-playing, and situational practice to help learners develop practical fluency. Positivity is infused throughout every lesson, creating a supportive environment where students feel safe to experiment, make mistakes, and grow with confidence. In addition to French, I teach related subjects including reading comprehension, foundational writing, and cultural studies, providing students with a holistic understanding of the language and its context. My approach encourages both academic success and real-world application, ensuring a lasting appreciation and proficiency in French.
