About Gaël
I'm a French native and have been living in England for the past seven years. While I'm now fluent in both French and English, there was definitely a time when getting to grips with English was quite a challenge! I studied French literature at university before going on to complete a PhD in the humanities at a British university. Teaching is a real passion of mine, and I’m truly dedicated to helping others succeed and enjoy their learning experience as much as possible.

I hold a degree in French literature and a PhD in a humanities subject, with extensive experience in teaching adults, university students, and children. In Paris, I taught French to adult and young refugees, and at Durham University in England, I lectured at the university level. This diverse teaching background enables me to adapt my approach to each student’s unique needs and goals, ensuring that lessons are tailored to their level, age, and interests.
My Approach to Tutoring:
I believe in a personalised and flexible teaching methodology, where lessons are designed around the individual’s learning style and objectives. Whether you're a beginner, intermediate, or advanced student, I adapt the content to suit your specific needs. Lessons can focus on various aspects of the language, such as:
- Grammar fundamentals
- Reading comprehension and pronunciation through articles or texts
- Conversational practice around specific topics of interest
- Cultural aspects and literary analysis for more advanced learners
Lesson Structure:
A typical lesson lasts around one hour, though I am flexible and can adjust the length based on your schedule and learning pace. My sessions are interactive and engaging, encouraging active participation and practical application of what you’ve learned.
Who the Lessons Are For:
I offer lessons to a wide range of learners, from beginners to advanced, whether you’re a student, professional, or simply learning French for personal enrichment. I have experience working with both adults and younger learners, and I tailor my teaching style to the needs of each age group.
With a passion for teaching and a strong academic background, I am dedicated to helping you achieve fluency and confidence in French through well-structured, enjoyable, and effective lessons.
