About Samara
I am a freshman at Harvard and a former intern at the Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Lab! I am an aspiring engineering major and I love math and helping translate it into a language people can understand. I am passionate about scientific and technical communication, and I see tutoring and early education as a crucial form of that discipline.

I’ve tutored privately before with middle schoolers, even helping one accelerate and skip an entire year of math. I’m good at explaining concepts down to fundamentals and am strong in all skills listed. I’m good with kids of all ages, and have younger siblings (so I’m ideally good at knowing how to retain attention). I’m available virtually or in-person in the Washington, DC/DMV area during summers or breaks.
I can help with homework, explain concepts they're struggling with in class, or accelerate their learning, depending on your preference! While homework and school help come first, I take a more fluid approach to learning, progressing to a variety of topics that I think students will find interesting and which will help them build analytical skills and a passion for learning. I empower students to tell me what is interesting and not interesting, and I work with them to discover how best they learn.
