About Jen
I was lucky enough to know exactly what I wanted to do in life: teach! I am passionate about learning and believe that with the right teacher you can succeed and excel in English, even if you have found it challenging in the past.
Before becoming a private tutor, I was an English teacher to 11-18 year olds in a lively secondary school, as well as 2ic in the English Department and Head of Media Studies. During this time I was also a personal tutor at the weekends.
In 2014 I became a stay at home mum to my twins and after a year of maternity leave, I joined Tutor fair. I began tutoring students in preparation for their English Language, Literature and Media GCSE and A Level exams and since then I have assisted others who were: learning English as their second language, requiring extra support whilst at primary school, requiring help with A Level and Undergraduate essay writing, needing some facilitation with creative writing - and a whole host of other English Language and Literature requirements.

Understanding my students’ personal requirements is so important to me and I always tailor my lessons to make them interesting and specific for each individual.

Furthermore, not only do I wish to provide challenging and engaging lessons but it is equally important to me that all of my students enjoy their sessions and feel proud of each and every achievement.

Perfect! Jen is a wonderful tutor who is patient and experienced. She tailors her lessons to suit the child. I would definitely recommend her.

She has a deep and comprehensive teachinhg materials, innovative use of online resources to help teach and a lovely friendly manner which helped all 3 of my children to learn and grow. Perfect! She is extremely kind, patient and understandable in her teaching. She gives me opportunity to put forward my own opinion and interpretation of the text. Moreover, she makes high quality powerpoint presentation to discuss and evalutate points from the text during her class. She also guided me in the subjects I should choose to continue forward and her advice has been really fruitful in my life.

Over the best part of the last decade, Jen has taught all three of our children English through their GCSEs with fantastic outcomes for them.
It’s difficult for young people: finding an interest in reading, connecting with a book, let alone wanting to write about them in some coherent essay. Jen connected with each of the children in their own relationships and inspired them to want to fall in love with English.
What went from being an academic school requirement has become a lifelong skill for the kids. Thank you, Jen.Jen taught both my son and daughter for several years from primary through to secondary. Both children achieved excellent English Language and Literature GCSEs. Jen is dedicated to each student, teaches with care and compassion. She ensures lessons are engaging and bespoke to each child's learning style and preferences as well as able to support SEN needs. Jen is by far the best tutor we have ever used and both my children would vouch for this too. Highly recommend.
