About Paul
I have spent 22 years teaching in UK schools, and after all that time the part I still love most is the moment a student who thought they could not do it realises they can. That is why I teach.
As a qualified teacher with QTS, a former Head of Department and pastoral leader, I take professionalism and safeguarding seriously. I am reliable, well prepared for every lesson, and I create a calm, encouraging space where it is always safe to say "I do not understand".
I believe nobody is simply bad at Computer Science. Usually they have just never had it explained clearly. My job is to change that, patiently and without judgement, until it makes sense and you feel confident working on your own.

My approach starts with the student, not the syllabus. In our first lesson I find out exactly where you are, what you find difficult, and what you are aiming for, then I build every lesson around that. I explain things in plain English, break hard ideas into small steps, and get you practising, whether that is writing code, working through past papers, or explaining a concept back to me until it truly clicks. I am calm and patient, and I never make anyone feel behind.
Lessons are one hour by default, though I am happy to do 30 or 90 minutes if that suits you better. They are online and one-to-one.
I am a qualified teacher with QTS and 22 years' experience teaching Computer Science and ICT in UK secondary schools, including as Head of Department. I hold a BSc in Computing, an MA in Education, and the CompTIA Security+ certification.
My lessons are for GCSE and A-Level Computer Science students, KS3 and GCSE ICT, and adults or beginners who want to learn Python or the basics of cybersecurity. Whether you need a grade, confidence, or genuine understanding, I will meet you where you are.
