About Paul
UPDATE: October, 2026. My hours are nearly all taken. I only have about three slots left. I expect to be full within a few days.
I help students develop clear, analytical writing and confident, independent thinking — the skills that bring success in English language and literature at GCSE, A Level and university study.
I specialise in helping students produce clear, well-structured prose and thoughtful, analytical responses, moving beyond basic answers to confident, high-level work.
I have worked extensively in the Middle East and Southeast Asia, including as Headmaster of a leading A Level college in Malaysia, where students progressed to top international universities.
I hold a Master’s degree in Teaching English for Specific Purposes, have published more than thirty-five books, and bring a structured, methodical approach to improving both writing accuracy and essay quality. More details can be found here: (concealed information)
Based in Cyprus, I concentrate on working online with GCSE, A Level and university students. I'm happy to work pretty well any time of day, but please note I don't normally take classes at weekends.

My lessons are structured, focused and tailored to the specific demands of GCSE, A Level English and higher learners.
I specialise in developing well-written essays, precise textual analysis, and confident, independent argument.
Students are encouraged to share work or topics in advance so that lessons can be carefully prepared and highly targeted. This allows us to use time efficiently and focus on the areas that will make the greatest difference.
In addition to live, online lessons, I provide detailed written feedback on essays and assignments, including clear guidance for improvement and, where appropriate, model answers and responses. This ensures that steady progress between sessions builds students' confidence in both writing and exam technique. Additionally, I work with adult learners and university students, offering support in academic writing, essay structure and critical analysis at undergraduate level and above.
I also offer optional short sessions focused on exam confidence and stress management, supporting students to perform at their best under pressure.

I have known Paul since we worked together in the Academic Services area of the Higher Colleges of Technology in the UAE in the late 1990's. Paul is a strong academic, an excellent English teacher and an accomplished author.
Working alongside you as a colleague and benefiting from your mentorship has been a privilege. I would like to express my sincere appreciation for the support and guidance you have provided in helping me enhance my English language skills. Your expertise—especially in improving my report-writing and speaking abilities—has been invaluable.
Thank you once again for your exceptional assistance and continuous encouragement.
I have known Paul Rogers for over 20 years. I met him when we were working together at the Higher Colleges of Technology. In Abu Dhabi. Paul is a great teacher and a wonderful writer. He is also a person with wit and imagination so he is always interesting to spend time with.
I have worked with Paul since the early 90s, and I can confirm that he is an excellent teacher, who carefully targets his interactive lessons to the individual needs of the students. I would highly recommend him as I know his students will always be beyond satisfied with his approach to teaching and learning.
I have known Paul for several years now. I am still impressed by his ability to precisely analyse learning environments and simultaneously learning needs of trainees. Doing so, Paul has an exceptional capability to deliver taylor-made tuition to his students helping them developing their talents and progress. For rating his teaching, there is only one word - "chapeau"....
Receiving English tutoring from Paul, I believe will benefit you greatly, with his many years of experience, articulate speech and pronunciation, I believe he he will help you surpass your potential and expectations.
