About Zara
I am an A level humanities student with a deep commitment to English, history & politics. Having very recently completed my GCSEs, I understand the modern secondary school curriculum inside and out, along with the exact feelings and problems your child may be facing!
STEM subjects often get the spotlight, while humanities are strongly labelled as “easy” or purely subjective. In reality, essay-based subjects require a completely different overlooked skill set such as structuring arguments, communicating clear ideas and analytical language.
Because people assume humanities should come naturally, it’s unfortunate I have seen my own friends lose confidence and just believe they’re “just not good at writing”, whereas it’s a skill that does need time and effort, certainly not something quick and natural.
I teach because I want to change that narrative and I want more students to admire humanities just as much as the world admires STEM subjects. I truly believe with someone as passionate as me, you will instantly fall in love with what I teach and rebuild your confidence.

An outdated idea I strongly believe should be left behind is the belief that achieving top grades is done by students who have memorised entire textbooks and revised for endless hours. True progress happens when a student with assistance can identify gaps in their learning, target those specific areas and knows how to win over the examiner.
Having recently achieved a grade 9 in English literature, Sociology & English language, I know firsthand what examiners look for and how overwhelming handling a range of GCSEs can be. My tutoring is designed for GCSE (years 10-11) and Key stage 3 (years 7-9) students who want stress-free genuine help from someone who can relate to them.
What lessons can be expected to be:
Interactive visual resources- first lesson dedicated to highlighting gaps and understanding you as a person. Where you want to be and how you revise/focus best. Next lessons will feature presentation slides dedicated to you only, so lessons can be engaging, easy and informative.
Focusing on Gaps - we don’t waste time going from the first lesson right to the last (unless that’s what you truly need!). We zero in on specific weak spots, such as essay structure, analysing quotes or revision methods.
Exam board centred - breaking down official mark schemes so you can understand what things need to be hyper focused vs left behind, ensuring top marks.
Patience - having tutored my sibling and neighbours, I’ve been able to create a friendly environment where students have felt comfortable and trusted in communicating with me and believing I can help.
