About Caleb
I'm currently 26 years old, and currently living in Dallas, TX. I was originally from Baton Rouge, LA, and experienced learning different from the current generation. I had some strong math teachers to help motivate me in learning in math, and gave me opportunities to display my talents to my community. However, most of my schools I attended didn't expand more on academics in math through offering high-level math courses and programs. Even through those challenges, I was able to handle my math courses through a breeze where I was tutoring my peers since middle school when I first took Algebra I, and teaching classes when the teacher is out. I was a former tutor for LSU and Southern before, during, and post-COVID where I am tutoring between in-person and online. I also took college courses in education and mathematics during my time at LSU and American University to earn both my bachelor's and master's degree. I'm currently in my third year of my teaching program with City Teaching Alliance/Urban Teachers, and have been working with Uplift Education for 3 years now.

My teaching method focuses more on targeting scholars' misconceptions, and how to respiral concepts, skills, and TEKS that scholars need to master for state-wide assessments (EOC, STAAR, ACT, DP, etc.). Most of my typical lesson plans focus on unpacking the skills and concepts, where scholars will mostly struggle during the lesson, model scholar's discourse, how to check for scholars' understanding, and how to assess scholars to exhibit mastery. The difference between me vs different tutors is that I normally take my time with work on tutees with areas they need to work on, going through a few problems, come up with strategies that would help them succeed, and make sure they can master the concepts on their own. Most of my lessons are focused more on grades 6th - 12th for secondary math, and can range based on the needs of the campus either pre- or post-secondary transitions, and can level to high school to college-level coursework.
