About Aaron
Aaron Haettenschwiller is an accomplished oboist and educator holding both Bachelor and Master of Music degrees in Classical Oboe Performance from the Manhattan School of Music, where he studied under Robert Botti (New York Philharmonic).
As an orchestral musician, Aaron has performed with premier ensembles including the New York Philharmonic, the National Arts Centre Orchestra, the Northeastern Pennsylvania Philharmonic, and the WA Sinfonietta. His performance credits feature collaborations with renowned conductors such as Marin Alsop and David Danzmayr at venues including David Geffen Hall, the National Arts Centre, and the Washington National Cathedral. A frequent competitor on the national orchestral circuit, he has advanced to the final audition rounds for major ensembles across the country, including the Chicago Sinfonietta, Detroit Opera, Philadelphia Ballet, and Vermont Symphony Orchestra.
Aaron brings the same standard of musical excellence to his private studio, working with students of all ages and experience levels. Having served as a mentor for the National Seminario at Ravinia, he combines rigorous technical fundamentals—tone production, reed adjustment, finger facility, and audition preparation—with expressive phrasing and musicality. Lessons are tailored to each student’s individual goals, whether preparing for youth orchestra auditions, conservatory entrance exams, or developing a lifelong enjoyment of the instrument.

Perfect! Aaron has been a wonderful oboe tutor for my daughter, who is a complete beginner. He patiently explained the basics of the oboe and clearly showed her how to assemble the instrument step by step. His calm and encouraging approach made her feel comfortable.
