About Candace
Hello there! I'm Candace. I am a freelance writer who reads and writes poetry in her spare time. In fact, my love of the written word led me to a Bachelor of Arts in Communication Studies with a minor in creative writing from Millsaps College. Storytelling has always been my guiding passion through life, and I've used writing to uplift others in my professional career through places like the Mississippi Department of Archives and History, Mississippi Today, Mississippi History Now, and The Mississippi Center for Investigative Reporting. When I am not writing for major publications, I dabble in poetry that speaks life to the human experience.

My teaching philosophy when it comes to tutoring: meeting students where they are no matter their level of education or background and striving towards excellence and independence rather than perfection.
A typical session with me looks like getting to know one another at the start of the session and talking through what you would like to achieve. Learning and engaging can change at any moment, so I strive to make sure we're always on the same page with the lesson, while having fun!
English and writing is what I primarily teach, and I'm especially skilled at writing assignments, reviewing grammar and syntax rules, reading through complex texts, and proofreading documents.
