About Maya
I was always the student teachers asked to help out the kid next to me. It just came naturally—if I saw someone struggling, I wanted to help. That part of me never changed. Whether it was explaining a math problem or helping with an essay, I’ve always found joy in seeing someone finally “get it.”
I graduated from high school at fifteen and recently earned my Associate’s Degree in Social and Behavioral Science. My path hasn’t been traditional, and that’s something I’m proud of. No journey is exactly the same, and I want my students to know that it’s okay to take the road less traveled. What matters most is staying motivated, asking questions, and believing in yourself.
As a tutor, I bring patience, flexibility, and a deep understanding of how different each student’s learning process can be. I aim to create a supportive space where students feel heard and encouraged, not judged. My goal isn’t just to help with schoolwork; it’s to build confidence and show students that they’re capable of more than they think.
I’m here to help them succeed, not just in class, but in how they think, learn, and grow.

Hi, I’m Maya!
As a tutor, I like to get to know my students, understand how they learn, identify what they’re struggling with, and discover what helps them feel confident. I always try to be patient and move at their pace. I don’t believe in one-size-fits-all lessons. Every session is planned around what that student needs.
I usually start with a quick review of what we did last time, then focus on one or two main topics for the day. I break things down into easy steps, and I always leave time for questions and practice. I want students to feel like they can ask anything without being embarrassed.
Most of my tutoring experience is with elementary level, but I have a proficiency in most middle and high school subjects. I’ve taken a lot of classes in Political Science, History, and English, and I’m also really strong in Math and writing. I’m happy to help students who are struggling, but also those who just want to stay ahead or need help staying organized.
What makes me different is how much I care about making students feel comfortable and heard. I want them to feel supported, not stressed, and I try to make learning feel a little less overwhelming.
