My dynamic teaching style encourages students to grow both musically and creatively. I have over seven years of experience teaching private lessons as well as working in high schools and music academies, with students of all ages and levels.
My areas of expertise include instrumental pedagogy, solo and ensemble performance, ensemble conducting, and helping beginning students build a strong musical and technical foundation. I also focus on developing good practice habits, musical expression, tone production, technique, and confidence in performance.
In my lessons, I adapt my teaching approach to each student’s goals, whether they are preparing for auditions, improving their technical skills, learning repertoire, or simply exploring music for enjoyment. I believe that learning music should be both challenging and inspiring, and I strive to create a supportive and motivating environment where students can grow at their own pace.
I also encourage creativity, musical curiosity, and a deeper understanding of music through theory, listening, and performance opportunities.

Jose is a wonderful saxophone teacher. My son (age 10) is very inspired and looks forward to his lesson every week. Jose is kind, enthusiastic, and very knowledgeable. We highly recommend him!
Jose is an exceptional saxophonist, and studying with him is a true honor given his extensive professional background. His fluency in both English and Spanish provides a massive advantage for Latin Jazz students like me, because his linguistic versatility helps me embrace the multicultural essence necessary to truly feel the music. Gracias José
After trying to learn to play the saxophone on my own and working with different tutors, I eventually met Jose, who turned me into a true saxophone player within months. His unique approach combining expertise, patience, and support completely changed my experience with the instrument. Highly recommend.
Jose is the best!
I am an adult student who was starting from zero learning the sax and Jose was referred to me by another tutor on Superprof since he was available to come teach me in person. Best referral I’ve ever received! Jose is an incredible teacher - clear, confident, encouraging, but firm. He makes you want to show up to each class prepared and more than anything he encourages you to have fun. I can’t believe the progress I’ve made since we started. He’s also taught my teenage son who had a great experience with him as well. Just a lovely guy, beautiful musician and great teacher.View more recommendations
