About Narissa
I am deeply passionate about psychology and its ability to create meaningful change in people’s lives. My journey in the field has been shaped by both academic study and hands-on experience across various settings, including neuropsychology, primary care, and behavioural therapy. I am driven by the belief that education is not just about knowledge transfer but about empowering individuals to think critically, develop self-awareness, and apply what they learn in real-world contexts. Teaching is more than just a role for me—it’s an opportunity to inspire curiosity, build confidence, and support others in reaching their full potential. I approach each lesson with empathy, patience, and a genuine desire to see my students succeed. Whether guiding someone through complex psychological theories or helping them refine their research skills, I tailor my approach to meet their unique learning styles and goals. With formal training in CBT and ABA and an understanding of psychodynamic approaches, I bring a well-rounded perspective to my teaching. My work as an Assistant Psychologist, Research Assistant, and Behavioural Therapist has equipped me with strong analytical skills, a deep understanding of mental health complexities, and the ability to communicate challenging concepts clearly and effectively. Students can expect a supportive and structured learning environment where they feel encouraged to ask questions, think critically, and grow academically and personally. Techniques and Teaching Methodology: My approach to tutoring is student-centred, focusing on creating an engaging and supportive learning environment tailored to each individual’s needs and goals. I incorporate a blend of structured guidance and interactive dialogue, encouraging critical thinking and self-reflection. My methodology often involves breaking down complex concepts into manageable parts, using real-life examples, and applying evidence-based strategies to enhance understanding. I adapt my style based on the student’s preferred learning methods—whether visual, auditory, or kinaesthetic—and integrate practical exercises, discussions, and problem-solving activities to reinforce learning. Typical Length of a Lesson: A typical lesson lasts between 60 to 90 minutes, depending on the student’s needs and the complexity of the subject matter. This structure allows ample time for explanation, practice, and reflection while maintaining focus and engagement. Shorter or extended sessions can be arranged based on specific requirements. Qualifications/Experience as a Tutor: I have a strong academic background and hands-on experience in psychology and behavioural sciences, complemented by formal training in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA) and insight into psychodynamic approaches. My roles as an Assistant Psychologist, Research Assistant, and Behavioural Therapist have honed my skills in assessment, data analysis, and therapeutic interventions. Additionally, I have experience mentoring individuals across various age groups, helping them build both academic knowledge and practical skills. Who the Lessons Are For: University/A-level students studying psychology, behavioural sciences, or related fields, and A-level students studying triple science and maths. Individuals preparing for undergraduate studies in psychology or seeking guidance on research methods and data analysis (e.g., SPSS, Excel). Young adults and older learners interested in exploring psychology, therapeutic techniques, or careers in mental health. I also offer dance classes in hip-hop and choreography I aim to create a safe, inclusive, and motivating space for learners of all backgrounds, fostering both academic success and personal growth
