About Daniel

My name is Dan, I'm a graduate and Masters student at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama supported by a Guildhall scholarship. I have won several prizes and awards for my solo playing, and have performed across the country. My teachers have included Tim Lowe and Louise Hopkins, whose methods have influenced my own very strongly. During my studies I benefitted from knowledge from some of the world's top conductors, ensembles, and cellists. I hope to pass on as much of this to my students as possible!
I'm experienced teaching a range of ages and abilities, from having never touched a cello, to post-grade 8 students. Teaching is a passion of mine and I hope to help as many of you on your cello journey as I can.

About the lesson

I will take the time to understand your goals and wants from your lessons. This could be anything from grade exams, to just playing for personal enjoyment. I believe the essential part of enjoying your cello journey is to be making consistent progress, this comes through a deep understanding of how, and most importantly why we do the technical work that is so important to your development.
I guide my students through different challenges of cello playing with a strong system of learning that is adaptable to the goals of the individual. I aim to make lessons fun and ensure my students choose and always like the music they play, as this is the most important thing in the end.
I teach all levels, with lessons spanning 30, 60, or 90 minutes.
