About Jay
I’m Jay Sambuco, a Berklee College of Music graduate and the guitarist of NXCRE / The Villains. Our music has surpassed 100 million streams, and our song “Usurper” charted on the Billboard Rock charts. I’ve toured across the United States and internationally, played major venues, and spent years writing, recording, and performing at a high level.
I bring that real-world experience into every lesson. I don’t just teach theory or basic chords — I help students develop actual technique, songwriting skills, and the kind of playing that sounds good on stage and in the studio. Whether you’re just starting or already intermediate and want to level up, lessons are fully customized to your goals.
I’ve lived the musician life: touring, releasing music, and constantly refining my craft. Now I help other players skip years of trial and error and get better faster.

Jay’s accomplishments and talent speak for themselves. As a Berklee graduate guitarist, he truly understands the instrument, as well as the science behind its musical applications. In theory
Jay taught me since I was a beginner learning open chords until now I can confidently read sheet music and tabs. I wouldn’t be the guitarist I am today without his guidance.
Jay is a very patient and understanding teacher. He can teach all ages and connect with anyone. He makes sure I learn at a good pace and doesn’t overwhelm me with too much information like other teachers do. Anyone aspiring to be a musician or looking to just get better at the guitar should take lessons with Jay. Also, I’ve never seen anyone shred up and down the neck of the guitar like Jay; he is amazing on the guitar!
My friend Jacob recommended Jay and I went from knowing nothing about playing guitar to being able to play parts of my favorite songs, tune a guitar, and read a little music within a month. He is very friendly, has amazing experience as an active musician, and was very accommodating to my schedule and my difficulties. He made examples relevant to me, gave me many personal tips of his, and always made the lessons fun and conversational. I never felt awkward about asking questions. Great guy and talented teacher!!!
Jay is a close personal friend of mine, and we've been best friends for years through his career and involvement with The Villains.
As a tutor on Superprof, Jay is patient, thorough, and highly engaging. He brings incredible passion to everything he teaches and breaks down complex concepts effortlessly so anyone can grasp them.
Working alongside him on creative and technical projects, I’ve seen firsthand how adaptable and dedicated he is when guiding others through challenging material.
I highly recommend Jay to anyone looking for a knowledgeable, encouraging, and reliable tutor who truly cares about his students' growth.View more recommendations
