About Vaishnavi
I am an architect, design technologist, entrepreneur, and graduate of Harvard Graduate School of Design and the University of Michigan. My career has taken me across architecture, advanced design research, technology, education, and entrepreneurship in the United States and internationally.
I hold a Master in Design Studies from Harvard GSD and a Master of Architecture II from the University of Michigan, where my academic work explored the intersection of architecture, emerging technologies, and robotics. I also received an international fellowship in Italy, further expanding my exposure to global design education and practice.
At Harvard Graduate School of Design, I served as a Teaching Assistant for courses including Material Systems and Transformable Design Methods. I worked closely with students through design critiques, project development, experimentation, and technical demonstrations. This experience shaped my approach to mentorship: helping students think critically, develop stronger design ideas, and communicate their work effectively.
Beyond academia, I have founded and led technology companies serving the architecture and design industry, raised venture capital, and worked with architecture and design professionals across international markets. My experience as a founder has given me a broader perspective on the opportunities available to architects and designers beyond traditional practice.
Having personally navigated competitive graduate admissions, studied at leading U.S. design institutions, taught at Harvard GSD, and built companies at the intersection of design and technology, I bring a combination of academic, professional, and entrepreneurial experience to my mentoring.
I enjoy working with ambitious students who want to strengthen their architecture studio projects, develop exceptional portfolios, pursue graduate education internationally, or explore new directions in their design careers.
My goal is not simply to help students complete an assignment or application, but to help them become more confident, independent, and thoughtful designers.

I offer personalized architecture and design mentorship for students, graduates, and emerging professionals, drawing on my academic experience at Harvard Graduate School of Design and the University of Michigan, along with my professional experience in architecture, design technology, and entrepreneurship.
My sessions go beyond traditional tutoring. Whether you're developing an architecture studio project, struggling to communicate a design concept, preparing a portfolio, or applying to a leading international university, I provide focused, one-on-one guidance tailored to your goals.
**Architecture & Design Studio Mentoring**
For students currently enrolled in architecture, interior design, or related design programs, I provide individual studio mentoring and design critiques, including:
- Architectural concept development and design thinking
- Studio project reviews, critiques, and design development
- Site analysis, spatial planning, and design strategies
- Architectural drawings, diagrams, and visual communication
- Design presentations, storytelling, and final juries
- Constructive feedback on ongoing academic projects
Sessions are structured like individual studio desk critiques, helping students strengthen their design thinking, explore alternatives, and develop their own work with greater confidence.
**Portfolio Development & Graduate Admissions**
For students preparing to apply to leading universities in the United States and internationally, I offer guidance on:
- Architecture and interior design portfolio reviews
- Project selection, portfolio structure, and visual storytelling
- Master's program and university selection
- Graduate application strategy and statement of purpose
- Application positioning for competitive design schools, including Harvard GSD, MIT, Columbia, Pratt, Parsons, and others
**Career & Professional Mentoring**
I also work with architecture and design graduates exploring career opportunities beyond traditional practice, including design technology, interdisciplinary design, and entrepreneurship.
**How My Sessions Work**
Sessions are conducted online in a personalized, 60-minute, one-on-one format.
Depending on your needs, we may review studio drawings, sketches, presentations, portfolio PDFs, university requirements, or current design challenges. I use visual critiques, sketches, design discussions, and practical feedback to help you identify specific improvements and next steps.
My approach is informed by my experience as a teaching assistant at Harvard Graduate School of Design, where I supported students through design discussions, desk critiques, assignments, and experimentation.
