About Jan

I am a husband and father of two children aged 17 and 13, so I understand first-hand the educational challenges and pressures that young people face today. Supporting my own children through their studies has helped me appreciate the importance of patience, encouragement and adapting teaching methods to individual learning styles.

In my professional career, I regularly mentor and train aspiring Biomedical Scientists, helping them understand complex scientific principles and laboratory processes. This has taught me how to explain difficult concepts in a clear, structured and engaging way.

Having studied Biomedical Science and Medicine, I have a strong foundation in Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics and scientific reasoning. I enjoy helping students develop confidence, curiosity and problem-solving skills, enabling them to achieve their academic goals and reach their full potential.

About the lesson

With over 18 years' experience in NHS laboratories, Biomedical Science, and training management, I understand that every student learns differently. My teaching approach focuses on seeing topics from the student's perspective and breaking down complex Maths and Science concepts into simple, understandable steps. I have a strong understanding of the 11+, GCSE and A-Level curricula and tailor each lesson to the individual's learning style, strengths and areas for development. I offer both face-to-face and online tuition and am flexible to accommodate students' schedules and learning needs. My goal is to build confidence, improve understanding and help students achieve their full academic potential.
