As a Hebrew tutor, I focus on a personalized, step-by-step approach that meets each student where they are in their learning journey. I teach using a combination of reading exercises, repetition for fluency, pronunciation guidance, and contextual understanding of prayers and Torah portions. My method balances structure with flexibility, ensuring that students not only learn the material but also feel confident and connected to it.
A typical lesson begins with a review of previously learned Hebrew letters, words, or prayers, followed by new reading practice. We then work on comprehension and Torah or Haftarah portion preparation, using techniques such as breaking passages into manageable sections, practicing chanting rhythms, and reinforcing vocabulary. Lessons often end with a short recap and personalized homework or practice exercises tailored to the student’s pace.
What sets me apart is my combination of formal Jewish studies, high school and Israel study experience, and my ability to teach beginners from the very basics. I create a supportive and encouraging environment that fosters both academic skill and personal confidence, helping students feel proud of their progress as they prepare for this milestone.
My lessons are ideal for students preparing for their Bar or Bat Mitzvah, from complete beginners to those seeking to refine their reading and prayer fluency. I can also work with older students or adults looking to improve their Hebrew skills for personal, educational, or religious purposes.

Leigha was a great teacher and took her time. She never rushed me and always took the time to answer any questions I had. I would recommend Leigha to any of my friends and family, whom she also helped improve their Hebrew language skills. Thank you, Leigha, for teaching us all :)
Leigha is an amazing and caring tutor. She has tutored people preparing for their Bar and Bat Mitzvah, the Hebrew Alef-Bet, and much more at our temple and other temples. We are related and I would recommend her to anyone for the value she provides.
