About Helena
- What kind of experience do you have?
I have been a professional horn player for 10 years. I'm currently Principal horn of the Scottish Ballet and freelance with all of the Scottish Orchestras, as well as orchestras in England and abroad. I take on students of all ages.

Yes.
- Where and with whom did you train?
I attended the Purcell School of Music in 2004 aged 11 to study Horn, Violin and Piano. I was given a rounded education in academic music and studied the horn with Sue Dent. I then attended the Royal College of Music where I studied with Simon Rayner (Principal horn Opera House, Covent Garden), John Ryan (Co-Principal Horn London Philharmonic Orchestra), Jeffrey Bryant (Retired Co-Principal horn Royal Philharmonic Orchestra), Nigel Black (Principal Horn of Philharmonia Orchestra) and Timothy Jones (Principal Horn of London Symphony Orchestra).
- Tell me about some of your current students.
I currently teach ten people, the youngest at 8 years old and the oldest at 36. I have started most as beginners and have taken people on of varying abilities.

Hi! My name is Helena Jacklin and I'm a french horn player!
- Which subject(s) do you teach?
I can teach all upper brass instruments, music theory, and tutor people taking their GCSE and A level music.
- Tell me about your qualifications.
I have a First Class Bachelor of Music (Hons) degree from the Royal College of Music, and a Distinction in Master of Performance postgraduate degree from the Royal College of Music.

2002 - Grade 5 Music Theory, Distinction
2005 - Grade 8 Horn, Distinction
- How much do you charge?
I charge for £45 an hour for all subjects.
- Where do you teach?
I teach at my home in Rutherglen, nearest stations are Rutherglen or Burnside. Or I can happily teach online!
- When are you available?
My availability does vary from week to week however I am flexible and can normally teach any day of the week.
- Which ages and levels do you teach?
Any ages.
Horn - beginner to advanced
Trumpet/tenor horn- beginner to grade 8
Theory/Harmony - Beginner to grade 8
- Which qualifications do you prepare your students for?
I can help with preparation for ABRSM and Trinity/Guildhall examinations, school exams and any instrument-related assessment you have coming up.
