About Shanaya

Hi! I’m Shanaya Wibowo, but everyone knows me as Noni—my dad gave me that nickname, haha. I was born in Los Angeles, but when I was 4, my family moved to Indonesia, and I spent 13 years growing up there. Now, I’m back in the U.S. to continue my studies, and I’ve been here for about four months!

About the lesson

As a tutor, my teaching methods will focus on helping students learn Indonesian through practical and engaging lessons. Here’s what sets me apart:

1. Focus on Basics : I will start by teaching the fundamentals of daily conversations, so you can use Indonesian in real-life situations quickly.

2. Cultural Insights : Alongside the language, I will introduce Indonesian culture, which is very different from American culture, giving you a richer understanding of the context behind the words.

3. Interactive Learning : My classes will involve interactive activities, such as role-playing conversations, so you can practice speaking confidently.

Typical Lesson Plan:
- Introduction (5 mins) : Brief overview of the day’s topic and goals.
- Vocabulary (15 mins) : Learn key phrases and words for everyday conversations.
- Practice (15 mins) : Engage in conversations with role-playing exercises.
- Cultural Insights (10 mins) : Introduction to a unique aspect of Indonesian culture, such as traditions, food, or etiquette.
- **Review & Homework (5 mins)**: Quick review of the lesson and optional practice assignments for the next session.
