About Ren
I have been acting for more than half of my life. When I was young, I started in theater, and after school, I moved to Los Angeles originally because I wanted a change of scenery. I fell into the film world as I was navigating finding a job and fell in love with the medium. When I started acting in film, I had to figure out the business side on my own, but I was fortunate enough to find a class that spoke to me, so I started building a community.
Since moving to Los Angeles, I have worked in feature films, starred in a Hallmark series, worked in short films, and done theater. More recently, I've started dipping my toes into writing, and a short film I wrote, took first place in two film festivals over the last year.

How I approach a character always starts with text analysis before moving into imagination work. That is to say that I want to objectively understand what's happening before subjectively diving into the work as the character.
Texting Analysis: here, we'll work with a scene from a film, show, or play and start breaking it down first to understand what is happening and then break down what the text tells you about your character. We'll deepen ways to mine for information and how to keep the work fresh.
Coaching: When you're feeling stuck or want to open up the sides that you're preparing for an audition, we'll work through what's not resonating with you. We'll find ways to open that up. My approach is imagination work based, but I am happy to work with actors who have a different approach. I just ask two things of you if that's the case: 1) be open-minded 2) think of the different language as practice for when you're on set talking to a director who doesn't speak your language, a practice in translating it in your head to the language that you use.
I like to create an environment where the actor can feel comfortable trying new things and asking questions. What I want to do is help you continue to open up the worlds that you're building.
These classes are for any actor who's looking to open up their work, no matter your age or background.

Ren is absolutely INCREDIBLE. Not only is she a present, engaged, talented scene partner while reading, her coaching skills are the best I have ever encountered. At the top of our session, she really made the effort to insure I was grounded, comfortable, present to myself and confident. Between takes she would check in with me about how I was feeling and give me coaching, direction, insight that helped open up new possibilities from take to take. If ever I started getting in my head - she could immediately shift gears to put it back in the scene. She is fantastic and a MUST for all tapes moving forward! :)
Ren has amazing story telling instincts and easily communicates her notes to other actors. Coaching with Ren means you're getting real word advice from an Actor who is professional and up to date in her knowledge of the biz. I can not recommend Ren enough if you are looking for straight forward, story driven acting coaching. Coach with her and book that job!!
