About Manav

The Intelligence of an Engineer. The Discipline of a Soldier. The Heart of a Mentor.

I am a Mechanical Engineer (Aerospace Option) graduate from University of Manitoba currently working at New Flyer Industries in Winnipeg, and a National Defense Academy (NDA) exam All India Rank 41 holder. While my credentials represent elite academic performance, my journey to get there is what makes me a great teacher.

A) My Journey: The 2.97 to 3.57 Turnaround- I believe that intelligence is important, but a "system for success" is what actually delivers results. During my second year of university, I struggled and my GPA fell to a 2.97. Instead of giving up, I applied engineering logic to my own life. I built a study system rooted in discipline and efficiency, eventually recovering to a 3.57 GPA and earning a spot on the Dean’s Honor List. I don't just teach students who are already winning; I specialize in helping students who are stuck find their own "turnaround" story.

B) My Mentorship Style: Friendly but Results-Oriented- I describe myself as a "Friendly but Strict" mentor.

Friendly: I understand the pressure students face. I am approachable, patient, and I love connecting with my students over shared interests.

Strict on Results: I believe that success comes from continuous effort and the right guidance. I have high expectations for my students because I know what they are capable of. I won't just give you the answer; I will give you the tools to find it yourself.

C) Beyond the Books: Sports and Bonding I am not a robot, and I don’t expect my students to be either. I am a huge sports enthusiast—you’ll often find me on the soccer field or the tennis and squash courts. I find that talking about a great match or a favorite team is the best way to bond and reset the brain between intense calculus problems. I encourage my students to have a balanced life because a healthy body leads to a sharp mind.

If you are looking for a mentor who will push you to your limits while supporting you every step of the way, let’s get to work.

My approach is rooted in Engineering First-Principles Thinking. I don't believe in rote memorization; I believe in building a "Mental Model" of how Math and Physics work in the real world.

(A)My Techniques Include:

1. Reverse-Engineering Problems: We take complex exam questions and deconstruct them into basic logic blocks. This is the exact method I used to rank AIR 41 in the NDA exam.

2. The "Engineering Why": Because I am a Mechanical Engineer, I explain Calculus through the lens of Aerospace—showing students how a derivative relates to a rocket’s velocity or how trigonometry keeps a bridge standing.

3. AI-Enhanced Diagnostics: I use data-driven diagnostic tools to pinpoint a student’s specific "concept leaks" within the first 20 minutes, ensuring we don't waste time on things they already know.

(B) Typical Lesson Plan (60 Minutes)

1. The Diagnostic (10 min): A quick "stress test" on the previous session’s concepts to ensure long-term retention.

2. Concept Deconstruction (20 min): Introducing the new topic using visual aids and real-world engineering examples. We move from the Why to the How.

3. Guided Execution (20 min): Solving problems together using a step-by-step logical framework. I focus on "Show Your Work" methodologies boosting students interest and morale.

4. The Challenge Block (10 min): I present an "Student-level" but practical challenge question to push the student's boundaries and build exam-day confidence.

(C) What Sets Me Apart

What sets me apart is the bridge I build between Academic Struggle and Elite Success.

1. The Turnaround Specialist: I am not a "natural" genius who never struggled. I personally executed a GPA recovery from 2.97 to 3.57 (Dean's Honor List). I know exactly how it feels to be stuck, and I have the specific roadmap to get a student out of that hole.

2. Elite Credentials: Ranking 41st in all of India for the NDA means I have a level of competitive discipline that I pass on to my students.

3. Professional Edge: I am an active Junior Design Engineer at New Flyer. My students aren't just learning from a tutor; they are being mentored by a professional in the industry.

(D) Who These Lessons Are For

I specialize in high-stakes academic preparation and performance recovery for:

1. Grades 5-10: Building a "bulletproof" foundation in Math and Science logic.

2. Grade 11-12 (Pre-Calculus & Physics 40S): Intensive prep for provincial exams and University entrance.

3. First-Year Engineering Students: Mentorship for MATH 1500, 1700, and introductory Physics/Statics.

4. Bilingual Households: I offer full support in English, Hindi, and Punjabi, ensuring clarity for students from diverse linguistic backgrounds.
