As a high school junior tutoring in reading and spelling, it’s important to create a patient and supportive environment for your student. Begin by assessing their current level with simple reading passages or spelling tests to identify areas of improvement. Use engaging materials, such as age-appropriate stories or interactive apps, to make learning fun and relevant. Break down challenging words into smaller, manageable parts, teaching phonics and patterns like prefixes, suffixes, and common word roots. Encourage active practice through games, flashcards, and writing exercises to reinforce their skills. Most importantly, celebrate small victories to build their confidence and motivation.
