About Kaavya
Hi! I’m Kaavya Kabilan, a high school senior with extensive experience tutoring math and SAT preparation. I specialize in SAT Math, Pre-Calculus (including AP Precalculus), Algebra, and Pre-Algebra, and I focus on helping students build strong foundations, confidence, and independent problem-solving skills. I’ve completed 70+ hours of tutoring, hosted 70+ sessions, and worked with students from 10+ countries, receiving over 200 positive ratings for clear explanations, patience, and engaging instruction. I also serve as a Senior Tutor and SAT Bootcamp tutor, where I help guide learners through structured practice and effective test strategies. As a student myself, I understand the challenges learners face in today’s classrooms and standardized tests. I aim to create a supportive, low-pressure environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, and learning at their own pace. My goal is not just to help students improve in the short term, but to equip them with skills they can use long after tutoring sessions end. I’m passionate about making math feel approachable and empowering, and I enjoy helping students realize they’re capable of more than they think.

My tutoring approach is centered on clear explanations, active learning, and confidence-building. Through extensive experience tutoring students internationally via Schoolhouse.world, I’ve learned how to adapt my teaching to different learning styles, levels, and goals. I focus on helping students understand the reasoning behind each step so they can apply concepts independently, both in class and on exams.
Teaching Methods & Techniques
I use a concept-first, step-by-step method that emphasizes understanding over memorization. My techniques include:
Breaking down complex problems into manageable steps
Asking guided questions to reinforce the “why” behind each solution
Using worked examples followed by student-led practice
Teaching SAT-specific strategies for accuracy, pacing, and question recognition
Lessons are interactive, structured, and tailored to each student’s needs.
A Typical Lesson
Each session follows a consistent but flexible structure:
Goal-setting and review of recent challenges
Focused instruction on targeted topics
Guided practice with real-time feedback
Independent problem-solving to reinforce mastery
Summary of key strategies and next steps
For SAT Math, sessions include timed practice, strategy drills, and error analysis.
What Sets Me Apart
I have logged 70+ tutoring hours, hosted 70+ sessions, and worked with learners from 10+ countries, receiving over 200 positive ratings through Schoolhouse.world. As a Senior Tutor and SAT Bootcamp tutor, I’ve been recognized for creating a patient, supportive environment while maintaining clear structure and high expectations. Being a high school senior allows me to explain material in a relatable way while staying aligned with current curricula and testing formats.
