Teaching has been a passion of mine ever since it had such a transformative impact on me as a young person. Through literature, films, and storytelling, I discovered a whole world of possibilities, and I’m excited to share that journey with Scotland's next generation.
I help students to:
- Achieve their highest grades in exams
- Apply for top universities and write powerful personal statements
- Choose a career path in an AI-forward world
- Plan a gap year that helps them land the perfect job afterwards
- Pursue a creative career that's profitable, professional and fun
- Work towards future goals and find a passion for life-long learning.
I've been fortunate enough to travel the world, from working with sled huskies in Austria to writing a puppet movie in Los Angeles, California.
These experiences have given me a unique perspective that I bring into the classroom, showing students how English and storytelling can open doors to incredible opportunities.
Most importantly, I've been through the exact same exams and essay writing tasks that you're going through right now, as well as an Undergraduate degree, a Masters and a PhD (ongoing). I can provide tried and tested exam techniques and writing hacks that will help you to both enjoy and ace your English exams.
Together, we’ll work on building confidence and academic success while inspiring students to see the limitless possibilities of their education.
I can't wait to meet you - please let me know if you have any questions or would like to jump on a quick call!

Highly HIGHLY recommend !!
Sarah taught my daughter Mia Higher English, we did weekly classes throughout the year as the school was not supporting her, and we are so glad she did!
She moved from a B student to an A student, and she has now received an unconditional offer from Glasgow University.
We are delighted. Thank you , Sarah !!Sarah has been an excellent tutor for my daughter preparing for National 5 English. From the very first lesson, she was organised, clear in her approach, and very encouraging. She takes the time to explain areas of difficulty, gives constructive feedback, and sets small goals that build confidence. My daughter feels supported and motivated after each session, and I feel reassured that she is in good hands. Highly recommend booking Sarah for boosted grades!!
Couldn't recommend Sarah highly enough. Found her on gumtree initially and she was very quick to make us feel confident that she was the right tutor for our teenage son. Online lessons mean we can book extra at short notice too. Great stuff!
I can’t recommend Sarah enough for Higher English tutoring. My daughter was nervous about tackling her Higher English, but Sarah is super patient and knows exactly how to explain complicated topics in a way that makes sense.
What I loved most is how she tailored the lessons to suit my daughter’s needs. She built up her confidence and helped her improve with each session. Sarah’s guidance on essay writing and exam techniques made a huge difference.
Thanks to Sarah, my daughter scored way higher than she ever thought she could. If you’re looking for someone who really knows their stuff and genuinely cares about your progress, Sarah is the perfect choice. Don’t hesitate – she’s awesome!View more recommendations
