About Matt
I'm Matt, a PhD candidate in Mechatronics Engineering and a Mechanical Engineering graduate, registered as a Graduate Engineer. I took Physics, Maths and Chemistry at A-Level and All the sciences and Maths at O-level, so I know these exams from the student side as well as the engineering side.
Why work with me
• Engineering-level training in mechanics, thermodynamics, fluids and data analysis, the ideas behind the physics you're learning
• Instruction experience since 2023, including Python tutoring and teaching CPR to groups of 36
• Taught over 500 hours helping students get As and A*
Who I help best
Students aiming for A/A* who want to understand the material properly, and students who've plateaued at a C or B and can't work out why.
Why I teach
I struggled with certain topics in my own A-Levels until the right explanation made them click. I want to give students that moment faster. Mistakes in lessons are useful, because that's where I can see what to fix.
Ready to start? Send me a message with your level (IGCSE or A-Level), exam board, current grade and target grade, and any upcoming exam dates. I reply within 24 hours, and we'll book a 30-minute intro session to find where you're losing marks and map out a plan.

Physics gets easier once you can picture what's happening. I teach the idea first, then train you to turn it into marks.
How each lesson runs
• Diagnose: a quick check to find your exact gaps
• Concept first: we build the idea from first principles, with a real example
• Exam practice: timed past-paper questions, marked against the mark scheme so you see how marks are awarded
• Error log: we track your recurring mistakes until they stop
Real examples from my own engineering projects
• Torque and speed: testing a 1000W electric-vehicle motor on a dynamometer
• Pressure and Bernoulli: analysing an air-cushion vehicle
• Circuits: series vs parallel battery configurations
• Thermal physics: Stirling engine and refrigeration cycle analysis

I have known Matt since highschool, and he was always passionate about Maths, especially when he was ahead most of the class and took Further Mathematics 1, 2 and 3 in A-level. If I ever needed help in a concept, he was always the one I’d go to first. Not only is he very clear and concise while teaching, but he was and is very patient. This carried on till university, where I still looked up to him in Mathematics and he had helped me tremendously: if I couldn’t understand a concept in one way, he will find a way to make you understand it.
I feel very hopeful about the students that study with him, and strongly believe they will get amazing results! Aside from his patience and knowledge in teaching, he is a very easy person to talk to!I’ve known Matt for quite a while, and I’ve had the chance to see firsthand how dedicated and reliable he is.
He has a very supportive and confidence-boosting teaching style. He takes the time to make sure concepts actually make sense, rather than rushing through them, and he’s great at adapting his explanations depending on who he’s helping. He’s approachable, encouraging, and genuinely wants people to succeed. I highly recommend Matt to other members of the Superprof community because he’s knowledgeable, trustworthy, and easy to learn from. Anyone who works with him will feel supported and motivated, and I’m confident he’ll be a great tutor for his students.I know Matt as someone who is passionate about providing the best explanations to an extent and helping others feel more confident in their learning. He is patient, clear, and structured thus making complex topics easier to understand. He explains concepts step by step and encourages questions, which helps to feel comfortable and supported rather than overwhelmed. I would recommend Matt to other Superprof members because he is reliable, approachable, friendly and committed to helping anybody to build a strong foundation, while gaining confidence in their abilities.
Matt is an incredibly friendly and patient person, who is quite considerate and tries to accommodate in situations he's able to. He's someone who is very apt at what he does and takes into consideration the people around him when he makes his decisions.
