About Marin

Hi, I’m Marin
I’m an online Japanese tutor based in Vancouver, Canada

I teach Japanese online,
and at the same time,
I study English and Mandarin just like you

I’ve been living in Vancouver for 3 years now,
and I’ve spent a total of 7 years living abroad

Living overseas wasn’t always easy.
I know what it feels like to
understand something in your head
but not be able to say it out loud
That anxiety… that frustration… I’ve been there too.

That’s why, in my lessons,
I care deeply about how learners actually feel

I don’t teach Japanese just from textbooks.
I focus on clear, practical Japanese
that you can really use in daily life

Natural expressions, real conversations,
and the culture behind the language

I create my own materials,
so you don’t just “study Japanese” —
you actually use Japanese

Through my own experiences abroad,
I want to help people from all over the world
feel more confident

I’m Hi! I’m Marin I’m originally from Kyoto, Japan, and currently based in Vancouver, Canada

I specialize in conversation-focused Japanese lessons for learners who want to start speaking Japanese confidently in real life
From complete beginners to advanced learners, I help you turn what you know into natural, usable Japanese.

Whether you’re just starting out or already know grammar but feel stuck speaking, I’ll guide you step by step — no pressure, no memorized sentences

My Lesson Style

Speaking-first & output-focused
You’ll spend plenty of time actively speaking, not just listening.

Personalized topics
Lessons are based on your goals, interests, and real life — no one-size-fits-all textbooks.

Gentle & immediate feedback
I help you sound more natural through rephrasing, clarification, and real examples.

Your words, not memorized sentences
We focus on expressing your own thoughts, feelings, and experiences in Japanese.

⸻

This Lesson Is Perfect For You If You…

Have studied basic grammar but can’t speak smoothly
Want to move beyond textbook Japanese
Are serious about improving your speaking skills
Have clear goals and are ready to actively speak
Want to sound natural and confident in Japanese

⸻

This Lesson May Not Be the Best Fit If You…

• Prefer casual or hobby-only learning
• Want mainly grammar explanations
• Prefer a fixed textbook-based curriculum
• Are not ready to speak actively during lessons

I’m sorry, but I do not offer lessons for minors whose accounts are managed by their parents.

⸻

My Background

About me
I’ve lived abroad for about 7 years and have traveled to 20 countries as a backpacker
I’m an INFP, and my hobbies include studying languages (English, Mandarin, and Korean), Pilates, cooking, and writing
I love connecting with people through language and supporting learners in a calm, friendly environment

Multilingual tutor
• 2+ years teaching Mandarin
• 5+ years translating Mandarin
• 1 year teaching English to Japanese learners

Language learner myself
I have learned 5 languages as an adult.
I deeply understand the gap between knowing grammar and being able to speak.

My teaching is designed to help you turn knowledge into real, usable spoken Japanese

⸻

What You’ll Practice in My Lessons

Talking about your daily life
Explaining your opinions and goals
Speaking without stopping or freezing
Expressing yourself clearly and naturally

No textbook examples — only real communication

⸻

Ready to Take Your Japanese to the Next Level?

If you feel like
“I understand Japanese, but I can’t speak it smoothly…”

About the lesson

Hi there! I’m Marin
I’m from Japan and now living in Vancouver, Canada

I speak 5 languages — English, Japanese, Mandarin, Korean, and Cantonese — and I also teach Mandarin. Since I’ve been studying languages for over 10 years, I totally understand how hard it can feel sometimes… but also how exciting and rewarding it is when you finally get it!

In my lessons, you don’t need to worry about making mistakes. We’ll keep it chill, fun, and easy to follow. Think of it like chatting with a friend — but in English!

What you’ll get in my class:
・Natural conversation practice
・Useful words & phrases you can really use
・Simple explanations (no stress!)
・A friendly teacher who’s always cheering you on

Let’s learn together, have fun, and build your confidence step by step!
