About Shinji
Hi, I’m Shinji! I graduated from high school in 2025 with a 95.50 ATAR with Band 6 results and am now studying a Bachelor of Actuarial Studies at Macquarie University on a scholarship, currently with a High Distinction WAM.
I have a genuine passion for teaching and helping students improve, especially when it comes to understanding difficult concepts and building confidence.
WE all hate it when we've looked at the textbook, listened to the teacher, watched three YouTube videos and somehow it still doesn’t make sense

As a student myself, I have always believed that genuinely understanding Japanese language concepts and questions are much more important than simply memorizing formulas or answers.
Throughout school, I was the type of student who would stay back after class and constantly ask teachers and classmates questions, no matter how simple or complicated they seemed. I would also spend time at home watching videos and looking through different explanations until I properly understood the reasoning behind a topic.
Because of this, my tutoring focuses heavily on building understanding from the foundations up. I know that understanding difficult content does not always happen instantly. I am willing to spend the necessary time explaining concepts in different ways until they make sense to you.
If you don’t understand something the first time I explain it, that’s completely fine. We can try a different explanation, example or way of thinking about it until it actually makes sense.
I also value practice as much as understanding the content, I believe consistent practice is what turns understanding into actual improvement and confidence. Actually practicing using the language, through speaking, listening, reading, writing practice etc. I understand that a large part of learning a language is being able to use it not just understanding it.
I also believe tutoring works best when students feel comfortable asking questions, you do not have to worry about whether a question is “dumb”. So I aim to create a relaxed and friendly environment where students are not afraid to ask anything.
I also want my support to extend beyond the lesson itself. Students are welcome to message me outside lesson hours if they have a question, are stuck on a problem, or need clarification on something we have covered. I will do my best to respond and help where I can.
