About Rie
I am a native Japanese speaker and an experienced Japanese tutor. I completed my BA degree in English literature at Tokyo Women’s Christian University in Japan and my MA degree in International Relations at Middlesex University in London. Previously, I worked as a P.A. for a bank and governmental organisations for over ten years. In 2018, I began my tutoring career after completing a Japanese teaching training course. I am a qualified Japanese teacher and have taught students of all ages and levels, ranging from primary school children to mature adults. Whether someone is a complete beginner, a business person looking to improve their Japanese for work, JLPT N2 takers, or simply an enthusiast learning Japanese as a hobby, I tailor my lessons to suit their individual needs and learning goals. I take great pleasure in teaching and helping my students improve their Japanese skills while also introducing them to Japanese culture and customs.

I believe the key to learning and improving new skills efficiently is to find enjoyment in the learning process. I strive to make my lessons fun, exciting, and easy to follow. Both output and input are essential for language improvement, so I prioritise giving my students ample speaking practice during lessons while also teaching grammar. Building a strong vocabulary is crucial for language development. To achieve this, I prepare a set of vocabulary words to learn in each lesson and encourage students to practise and review them before the next class. Rest assured, all the necessary materials will be provided.

Rie is a very friendly and approachable person. My twin girls, primary school age, always had fun learning Japanese with her. Lots of efforts were put into the lesson and homework. Highly recommended!
