About Russell
I am an experienced Classics teacher, who has turned to full-time tutoring after moving to North Carolina from the UK with his wife.
Having been raised by two Classics teachers, I have had a passion for the Ancient World from an early age. I fell in love with teaching after leaving university and taking up a position at Christ’s Hospital School as short-term cover for another teacher. I have not looked back since.
Head of Classics at Cargilfield School in Edinburgh (2015-2021).
Classics Teacher at Highfield School in Hampshire (2014-2015).
Classics Teacher at Christ’s Hospital School in West Sussex (2013).

I have produced consistently high results at Common Entrance and GCSE. My pupils’ success has allowed them to be awarded places at such schools as Eton, Fettes, Harrow, Oundle, Rugby and Winchester. Many have also been awarded Classics Prizes and Scholarships to these schools.
I can teach beginners all the way through to advanced and welcome enquiries from parents as well as adult learners.
