About Surjo
I'm Surjo Dutta, a dedicated Data Engineer with a passion for all things data and technology. I hold a Master's degree in Data Science from the University of Sydney and a Bachelor's degree in Engineering Physics from the University of Illinois. I've had the privilege of working with industry leaders like Intel Corporation and John Deere, where I've honed my skills in data manipulation, machine learning, and software development.
So, why do I want to teach? The answer is simple: I love empowering others with the knowledge and skills they need to succeed in this rapidly evolving field. Data science and technology have the power to change the world, and I believe that education is the first step in making that change happen. I adopt a hands-on, project-based approach to teaching. Given my background in data engineering and machine learning, I believe the best way to learn is by doing. I start with a foundational understanding of the concepts and then move on to practical applications. This involves coding exercises, data manipulation tasks, and even mini-projects that simulate real-world applications of Python, SQL, and AI.
A typical lesson lasts for 60 minutes. The first 15-20 minutes are usually dedicated to theory and concept explanation, followed by practical exercises and Q&A sessions for the remaining time. This structure can be flexible depending on the student's needs and the complexity of the topic.
I have a strong academic background with a Master's in Data Science from the University of Sydney and a Bachelor's in Engineering Physics from the University of Illinois. I've also worked as a Data Engineer at Intel Corporation and completed a Software Engineering Internship at John Deere. My work has involved developing algorithms, automating data pipelines, and implementing machine learning models.
My lessons are geared towards high school students, undergraduates, and professionals looking to upskill. Given the technical nature of the subjects, a basic understanding of programming would be beneficial but is not mandatory. Age is not a constraint; anyone with a keen interest in Python, SQL, or AI is welcome.
