About Ivy
I am a French tutor with over 4 years of experience and a Bachelor of Education in French as a Second Language. I specialise in working with complete beginners, helping them build a solid foundation in grammar, vocabulary, and everyday communication. My teaching style is patient, supportive, and often sprinkled with humour to make lessons enjoyable. I use games, skits, flashcards, and storytelling to make learning both interactive and memorable. Lessons are designed to be fun while reinforcing key language skills, ensuring that students remain engaged and motivated. I focus on helping learners gain confidence in speaking French in real-life situations. Watching students progress from hesitant speakers to confident communicators is incredibly rewarding. I adapt my approach to each student’s pace, interests, and learning style. Encouragement, laughter, and curiosity are always part of my lessons. My goal is to make French feel approachable and exciting. Together, we explore the language step by step, celebrating each small achievement. Learning French can be playful, rewarding, and full of joy—and I make sure every student experiences that journey.

My teaching approach focuses on helping students build confidence and fluency in French step by step. I work on conversational skills, grammar, pronunciation, and accent reduction to ensure clear and natural communication. Lessons include cultural insights to make learning engaging and relevant. I create structured, student-centred lessons tailored to each learner’s goals. We practice real-life dialogues, role-plays, and listening exercises to strengthen speaking and comprehension. Grammar coaching is integrated into practical usage so students understand how rules apply in context. I also guide students preparing for exams, academic work, or linguistic milestones, helping them approach challenges confidently. Visual aids, interactive exercises, and consistent feedback are used to track progress and build mastery. Lessons are paced to suit each learner, making learning enjoyable yet productive. My aim is to support every student in excelling, whether in casual conversation, professional use, or academic settings. I encourage questions, curiosity, and active participation. Together, we develop fluency, cultural understanding, and the skills needed to succeed in French.
