About Marcelo
Hi! My name is Marcelo, and I’m an Italian language teacher, translator, and writer with a deep passion for languages and communication. I have a background in Linguistics and have been teaching Italian for over 20 years, helping students from around the world discover not only how to speak Italian, but how to live it. In addition to teaching, I work as a translator and have published books in both Portuguese and Italian. This experience allows me to approach the language with a unique sensitivity to its structure, rhythm, and cultural depth. Whether I’m guiding a beginner through their first Italian sentence or helping an advanced learner refine their expression, I bring the same level of dedication, clarity, and personalized care to every lesson. My background as a writer has also shaped the way I teach: I believe in storytelling, cultural immersion, and building genuine human connection through language. Teaching Italian is not just my profession—it’s something I truly love. If you’re looking for a committed, experienced, and culturally aware teacher who understands the challenges English speakers face when learning Italian, I’d love to work with you.

Discover a Smarter Way to Learn Italian – Designed for English Speakers Are you planning a trip to Italy or simply passionate about the Italian language and culture? I offer personalized online Italian lessons tailored specifically for English speakers. With over 20 years of teaching experience and doing research in Linguistics, I’ve developed a unique method that addresses the specific challenges English speakers face when learning Italian (a Romance language with very different roots). Why Learn With Me? My method goes far beyond grammar drills and vocabulary lists. I start with a textbook as a flexible guide and design each lesson around your personality, goals, and learning style. You'll gain confidence quickly through meaningful, real-world conversations — like naturally responding “Prego” to “Grazie” — until these small exchanges become second nature. But it doesn’t stop there. My lessons are infused with Italian culture (from classic films and music to everyday customs and expressions) so you’re not just learning a language, you’re living it. My deep knowledge of Italian literature, history, and cinema helps you connect language to context, making your learning richer and more memorable. Who Are My Lessons For? Whether you're a complete beginner, preparing for a trip, or looking to refine your fluency, my lessons are designed for learners at all levels. If you're an English speaker looking for a clear, culturally immersive path to fluency, you're in the right place. Start Speaking Italian in Six Months With my method, many students feel confident speaking with native Italians in as little as six months. If you're ready to have real conversations and experience Italy like a local, let’s get started.
