About Andrei

Hello! My name is Andrei, and I'm a university student currently living and studying in Shenzhen, China.

I'm pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Economics at Harbin Institute of Technology (Shenzhen), one of China's leading technical universities. Before that, I completed a one-year Chinese language foundation program at Dalian University of Technology.

I hold an HSK 4 certificate with a score of 224/300, and I am currently working towards HSK 5. I also have an IELTS Academic score of 7.0, which allows me to explain Chinese grammar and pronunciation clearly in English.

My journey with Chinese began several years ago, and I know firsthand how challenging the language can seem at first. I've experienced everything from learning my first characters and struggling with tones to moving to China and using Mandarin in everyday life.

What makes my approach different is that I can combine structured textbook learning with practical knowledge gained from living in China. I understand the difficulties that foreign learners face because I've been through the same process myself.

I'm patient, approachable, and genuinely enjoy helping beginners discover that Chinese is much more logical and accessible than it might initially seem.

About the lesson

My lessons are designed for beginners who want to learn Mandarin Chinese from scratch or build a strong foundation in the language, especially students preparing for HSK 1 and HSK 2.

Learning Chinese doesn't have to be overwhelming. My goal is to explain pronunciation, tones, characters, and grammar in a simple, logical way, helping you understand how the language actually works rather than just memorizing rules.

What you can expect from my lessons:

Structured learning: We follow a clear plan based on HSK textbooks and materials, so you can track your progress step by step.

Pronunciation and tones: We focus on building natural pronunciation habits from day one.

Practical Chinese: Since I live and study in China, I share real-life expressions, cultural insights, and examples of how Mandarin is actually spoken every day.

Interactive practice: Lessons combine clear explanations with reading, exercises, and speaking practice so you can actively use new material right away.

Personalized approach: I adapt the pace and difficulty of every lesson to your level and goals.

A typical lesson lasts 60 minutes. We start with a quick review of previous material, introduce new vocabulary and grammar, practice them in context, and finish with targeted exercises to lock everything in.

Having learned Chinese as a foreign language myself, I know the exact challenges new learners face and how much a clear, supportive environment helps. My aim is to make Mandarin accessible, engaging, and rewarding while giving you the confidence to use it in real life.
